for trigo questions, when they ask you to "calculate the greatest angle of elevation of S when viewed from any point on the line OB", how do you go around finding it?
other examples to further explain what the question is asking is fine with me.
The shortest distance is always the perpendicular distance. And the nearer you are, the steeper you have to look.
S

O-----------------X---------------------B
Imagine being 5m from a HDB flat, how steep you have to look up to see the top.
Imagine being 50m away....
find the shortest distance from the line OB to the point S.
the elevation is from that point to S.
examples: imagine you go to movie. you got the front row seats. at which front row sea would you need to tilt your head up the most?
thanks! :) i finally understand what the question is asking.
