My teachers... are hopeless.
Its more reliable to post here.
I need your advise about POA. I know nuts about accounts, zilch, zero, nada
How should I start learning it?
POA..
hmm im a POA student, i realise tat in order to do well for it
u must get ur basic right.
maybe try and get ur basic correct like debit side and credit side?
or u can start a thread about POA, the mods here will help u further.

Ahhhhh right, "Tin Tin" is a tuition teacher by profession (though I'm sure she's not "way older" than Gunner, but still, a woman's age is sensitive and all, so we'll just leave it at that and umm take her word for it ).
"Tin Tin" has posted that she prefers to tutor mathematics but finds it easier to earn money as a chem tutor (probably because the tuition market is flooded with more math tutors than any other subject).
I recall, quite a number of other forumnites here are also tutors.
I wonder, if a poll was made, how many regular forumnites here (including lurkers) are "students", "tutors", etc? Possibly the latter category is somewhat larger than what everyone (student and tutor forumnites both) here assumed. Interesting. And perhaps another evidence of the "Uniquely Singapore" phenomenon.
i'm not a tutor by profession lah.. tutor after work nia..
black rebel you can post your POA questions here.. after all that's my major so hopefully i'm slightly more adequate in it
Hey Gunner77,
I think the tonnes part, you have to leave your answer in tonnes.
Converting everything makes it tedious.
Just work your answer in Tonnes. (:
Good Luck for your Practicals tomorrow!
I'm having mine too (:

you can leave your answers in tonnes but when you are calculating involving Mr, you have to convert to grams because Mr is technically in terms of grams
SOMEBODY HELP ME!
(d) calcium carbonate is insoluble in water.name two sustance that, when mixed in solution will form a precipitate of calcium carbonate?
(c) why do metals conduct heat better than non-metals?
3a) define the relative molecular mass of a compound.
d)calcium chloride and sodium carbonate
c) you are scaring me arent you. textbook didnt say anything about it.
3a) relative molecular mass of a compound is the average mass of one molecule of the substance compared to 1/12 the mass of carbon-12 atom
why?
for what question
(d)
btw, (c) came out. im not scaring u
because you just get one soluble calcium ____ and some soluble ____ carbonate can liao.
c) wrong
kk, thanks!
gunner if u have answer to part c post here k. i need go sch liao. i go sch can check here de.
the tys no answer for part (c)
i got more questions!!!
2a) state two differences between compound and mixture.
9b) explain why
(i) molten ionic compounds will conduct electricity
(ii) solid ionic compounds will not conduct electricity
siao liao la..
so many doubts before the paper starts!

2a is a sec 1 question that I helped a teacher set for a schools EOY paper LOL
I think in that question, I put state 3 differences, and in the answer sheet, I put 4.
1) Compound has fixed boiling point/melting point, mixture has range of b.p/m.p
2) Compound cannot be separated by physical means, mixture can.
3) Compound cannot be created by physical means, mixture can.
4) forgot :(
9b) (i) This has a little physics involved. When it is molten, the ionic compounds will be separated into their respective ions. And because it is liquid, these ions can move around. These moving ions/charges will conduct the electricity.
(ii) Solid, no such ions. They are joined together (ionic bonding) and they cannot move around, hence cannot transport charges.
ohh!
i know wats the 4th one. compound has fix composition while mixture has varied composition.
thanks eagle! mind helping me with the questions on top?
(c) why do metals conduct heat better than non-metals?
This one?
This is because metals have free electrons, which can help transfer heat quicker since it can move. Whereas for non-metals, nothing in them can move to help transfer heat as fast. In Kinetic Theory of Matter, the main pathway for heat transfer in non-metals solids is by conduction, which is through transfer of vibrational kinetic energies from molecules to molecules
ohh ya!!
i never think of free electrons! thanks eagle
wat about the part (D)
i still dont get deteq explainations
230pm
im scared
u take chem?
