Hey all, i need help on all the question here.Would deeply appreciate if any kind soul can point why the answer is given .Some i seriously dun have the answers
3.The ratio of the number of pears to the number of mangoes in Basket A and in Basket B are 2:1 and 2:7 respectively.Basket A has 2/3 times as many fruits as Basket B.
(a) Find the ratio of the number of Pears in Basket B to the number of Pears in Basket A.
(b)When 18 mangoes are moved from Basket B to Basket A,the ratio of the number of Pears to the number of mangoes in Basket A becomes 8:7.How many mangoes are there in Basket A now?
Answer a) 1:2
b) 42 mangoes
4.Michael ,Jeremy and Andrew shared 320 marbles in the ratio 1:2:5.Jeremy lost [1/2] of his marbles to Michael in the first round of game and Andrew lost [1/2] of his marbles to Jeremy in the second round of game.
a) Find the ratio of the number of Michael’s marbles to Jeremy marbles to Andrew’s marbles after two round of games .
b) How many more marbles will Jeremy have than Michael if Andrew gave Michael 10 marbles after the second game?
5.Jack and Kate shared some cards in the ratio 5:4.In a game, Kate lost half of her cards to Jack.Jack then had 35 cards.
(a) How many cards did Kate lose to Jack ?
(b) How many cards did they have altogether?
Answer a) 1 unit à 35 / 7 = 5
Kate Lost à 5*2 =10
Kate Lost 10 cards
b) total cards à 9 * 5 = 45 cards
they had 45 cards altogether .
6.¼ of May’s savings was equal to 2/5 of Alice’s savings.However , when Alice increased her savings by $35 and May Spent $67,they had equal amount of money in her savings.How much money did Alice have finally ?
3 units à $35+$67 =102
1 unit à 102 / 3 = $34
Alice finally had ($34*5)+$35 =$205

10.Class 5A sold 3 times as many funfair coupons as Class 5B on Saturday.On Sunday,Class 5A sold another 75 coupons while Class 5B sold another 127 coupons.The total number of coupons sold by each class then became the same.Find the number of funfair coupons sold by Class 5A on Saturday.
