I would like to seek some advice on the setting up of a 24hrs study place which will provide student with the following
- Proper Tables/Chairs
- Lockers
- Proper lighting
- Air Condition
- Toilets
- Vending Machine for drink and food
- Near to the city
- Basic Wireless Internet Access
Will students be interested be paying a fee for such a place
have to be high-speed internet access...a lot of learning are being done online nowadays....online streaming lectures...of course a firewall would have to be added in for the Maples,DOTA,etc...

anyway...for such an idea to really take off...there has to be a steady stream of customers...most people...at least those doing overnight studying...are last-minute crammers...are there so many exam periods to go around?Uni/Poly/A level/O level...I dont think U want to include PSLE...
I knw.
But the latest would be till 11.
So hmm, i guess one perk would be 24 hrs and air con.
Tht why i suggest tht have to be specific in the target audience.

true for the 24 hrs and air-con...but seriously speaking...I wouldnt travel all the way from Jurong to town just for that lor....which comes to another point...The layout of the place...or rather...the sound-proofness of the place...I hate it when I am trying to study and the group behind me is talking...so if its one large common room...I'll give it a miss....machiam market liao...

or u have those room booking system, plus a big common room if they cant get room.
but my question is, is the rent cost going to be sustainable?

Having Branches all over would solve tht problem. Hahaha.
Hmm maybe can have like private rooms?
If you come in a group u can book a private room, if u come alone, u have to share the huge common room with everyone.
But with people there sure to be noise tht is unavoidable.
McDonald's is already providing such service (with food) long before you. Though the food a bit overpriced and getting more ex.
What makes you think that students will go to your place rather than Mac.. Not all Mac keep students away from studying at their outlets.
Furthermore if you are thinking of charging the accommodation on top of the food.. The idea is to keep it cheap or rather affordable for students who have limited amount of pocket money.
I think it will deter rather than attract.
Maybe you can try doing some surveys among students from various age group and family background. A really large sample is needed because the number of students who study overnight outside isn't really big.
I noticed students studying overnight in Mac but the number is minute. And mostly students will choose place close to their house so they can go home at dawn quickly to sleep.
My thoughts.

I happen to be the kind of person who will turn around and tell the person who has been talking in lecture to shut up...so...I am pretty choosy in that sense...

I dont think so....cos I havent been able to see how is the TS going to earn his keep during the off-peak seasons.

must have some volunteers that are near the age group of the target audience to guide them if they have any questions on anything they dun understand.
if dun have might as well stay home study or at sch where teachers can give free supplementary classes.

Sorry I poor.
I am a student
When i first saw the idea, what came to my mid isn't to sit and study at the place, but to hang out with some friends overnight there to talk or revise a little bit.
What will happen if they decide to play dota cs over lan, wad if they on music very loud? what if they take advantage of the basic fee and play games there?
Most schools starts their lesson in the morning, that means the selling point of staying overnight can only work during friday, saturday. If they have remedials on saturdays, that leaves only saturday
Since it is located in the CBD, some might find it troublesome to travel to and fro.
actually my hse is near the cbd area... so it wont be a prob for me... when is this coming out... i will be your regular

might work for the O/A level group...not going to work for tertiary level...range too wide...
and that basically means employing tuition teachers on stand-by for questions...that's going to cost...
