Dear Friends,
I would like to seek some advice on the setting up of a 24hrs study place which will provide student with the following
Will students be interested be paying a fee for such a place
Why can't study at school?
if there are a bunch of students together with wireless connection, and the rest of the stuff, what makes you think they will study at all if they don't have the discipline to just study at home?
*sniffs ....
this thread smells like a sounding board for someone's business plan .....

What is the unique selling point ? You can get all this at the library ...
Why don't u hire some invigilators too and their job is to make sure the students who utilise your place really study? =X
library...
students are looking for places with all of the above
and most imptly................. FREE
(other than the vending machine)
Library? School? Mac? So many places. Best is at home.
I guess the unique selling point can only be 24hrs open
how about making the unique selling point to be "FOC"?

You have a point there. You major competition Macs is also open 24 hours. And they offer great food (well thats what most people think).
I think there should be atleast 2 more really catchy selling points if you want to sustain a good business.
24 hours place to study, like the airport? or burger king, at east coast? these place more condusive for overnight studying
Near to city, very hard
If around HDB areas, you could get rent for $1k a month, and charge a very very basic fee, e.g. $2 a month, and attempt to earn from snacks or drinks vending machine

That hardly covers the expenses.
hmm...basic wireless internet access (server is only locked to load sgforums' homework forum????)
how about providing free dinner and breakfast if the fees is $10
