Hi ..i need help for detailed workings for P6 maths question .thanks in advance !
A tank measuring 25m by 15m by 8m was half-filled with water. The tank had a drain-off tap at the bottom that can drain off water at a rate of 10 l/min .Another tap located at the top of the tank can add water into the tank at a rate of 6l/min .If both tap are turned on at the same time and the tap located on top turned off after 30 mins ,how long will it take for the water in the tank to be completely drained off?
2nd question
A belt and 3 shirts cost $176 .If 3 belts and 4 shirts cost $333 ,how much did Mr Lee pay for 4 belts and 10 shirts ?
3rd question
The ratio of the number of girls to the number of boys in school W was 3:1
The ratio of the number of girls to the number of boys in school Y was 1:2
The total number of pupils in school Y was twice the total number of Pupils in school W .
Find the ratio of the number of boys in School W to the number of boys in School Y.
total water in tank initially = 25*15*4=1500 l
net water into tank = 6-10 = -4 l/min
So for 30min, tank lost 30*4 = 120 l.
remaining in tank = 1500-120 = 1380 l
water drain at 10 l/min
So time require to drain remaining water = 1380/10 = 138min
hence total time = 138+30 = On the way to become wealthy!
4th Question
Mary and Jean were going to a neighbourhood park 800m away from their house .
Mary walked at 40m/min and Jean cycled at 160m/min .At Halfway ,Jean stopped to talk to her friend .When Mary arrived at the park ,Jean was still 200m away .How long did Jean talk to her friend ?
wow! Question 2,3,4 they actually use this "drawing" method which I have no idea.
4th Question :
Four children ,Alice ,Bernard and Cassie and Dominic shared a sum of money .Alice received twice the total amount of money received by Bernard ,Cassie and Dominic .Bernard received [2/3] the total money Cassie and Dominic received .
Dominic received 5 times as much as Cassie .
(a) What fraction of the total amount of money was Cassie's Money ?
(b) Alice used half her money ,or $50 ,to buy a watch .Bernard also gave half of his money to Cassie .How much money did Cassie have in the end .
You sure there is no error in the 1st question?
1 cubic meters = 1,000 litres.
0.5 x 25m x 15m x 8m = 1,500 cubic meters = 1,500,000 litres.
Roy took part in a National Mathematical Quiz competing with other schools. He answered 50 questions altogether and scored a total of 318 points .
For every correct answer ,10 points were given .For every wrong answer ,3 points were deducted .
(a) How many questions did Roy answer correctly ?
(b) If Roy answered 43 questions correctly ,what would be his total score for the quiz ?

1st step ~~> take 3 belt 4 shirt - 1 belt 3 shirt = $333 - $176
=2belt 1 shirt = $157
2nd step ~~> mutiply ''1 belt 3 shirt=$176'' by 2
= 2 belt 6 shirt=$352
3rd step(finding cost of 1 shirt) ~~> take 2 belt 6 shirt - 2 belt 1 shirt = $352 - $157
=5shirt = $195
1shirt = 195/5 = $39
4th step ~~> Since 2 belt 1 shirt = $157... then to find 4belt 10 shirt... we take ''2 belt 1 shirt=$157'' x 2 = 4belt 2shirt=$314(so to make it easy we jus nid to find 8 more shirts)
1 shirt = $39
8shirt = $39 x 8 = $312.
ANSWER for 4 belt 10 shirts bought by ah LEE = $314 + $312 = $626
later i come back from work i help u to solve the other qn. dun worry
o The ratio of the number of girls to the number of boys in school W was 3:1
The ratio of the number of girls to the number of boys in school Y was 1:2
The total number of pupils in school Y was twice the total number of Pupils in school W .
Find the ratio of the number of boys in School W to the number of boys in School Y.
Wg: Wb = 3:1
Yg: Yb = 1: 2
Since Student Y is twice of student W
Hence Yg: Yb = 2: 4
Therfore Wb: Yb = 1:4

Time for mary to finish the journey
= 800/40
=20 mins
At 400 marks jean time = 400/160
= 2.5 min
Jean need another 200/160 = 1.25 min to reach 600m
Total time of jean traveling
= 2+1.25
=3.25
Hence Jean talk for
= 20 – 3.25
= 16.75 min

Find the ratio of the number of boys in School W to the number of boys in School Y.
School W = 3:1
School Y = 1:2
Lets say School W have 500 pupils and School Y have 1000 people.
School W, 3:1 = 500
School Y, 1:2 = 1000
School W = 500/4 = 125.
Therefore, School W have 125 boys.
School Y = 1000/3 = 333.3
333.3 x 2 = 667.
Therefore School Y have 667 boys.
Ratio of School W boys to School Y boys =
125:667
(this qn i not sure correct anot. i think i wrong)

Student Y is twice of Student W does not mean ''1:2'' x 2 u noe?? 1:2 can already be bigger than 3:1... according to newton's law of page 53, line 7 phrase 2

===== here's the working: T - true f - false T + F = 50 10T - 3F = 318 combine both equations: T = 50 - F substitute into equation 2 10(50 - F) - 3F = 318 finally, you will get, -13F = 182 F = 14 T = 50 - 14 = 36 part 2 he answered 43qn correct, which will be: (43 x 10) - (3 x 7) = 409
