Hi all,
How do you all study in uni? My method last time is to take most of my available free time to catch up on revision.
To do tutorials and re-do so that I don't forget. But it's kinda sad that I forgot stuff I covered merely 2-3 weeks ago.
This method takes up a lot of my time cos I prepare for exams very early. Or should I adopt a "prepare for exams one month before" strategy?
I am now studying albeit part time and my current strategy is taking a toll on me.
How do you study? Thanks for reading.
do past year papers
many many many

welllllll... depends on whether you're made for the bao fou jiao thingy or not lor.. I had tut mates who study in tut rooms up to 3 am in the morning before exams - then going into the hall, puking everything out and then forgetting everything after. Whahah. AND he scored a B+.
did they study last min?
I know study last min won't work for me..
that's why I thought if preparing 1 month b4 , high intensive will work anot?
burn my notes and then drink it the nite b4 my exam lor..
I stated the most powerful method already
but everytime, no one listens or dares to do it, simply because they 'thought' they need to read their notes more to be very very sure before doing revision papers... -.-"
Wait till the eleventh hour.
Mug it out. Make it. Smirk. Be arrogant.
Or.
Mug it out. Flunk it. Giggle. Shit talk.
No seriously, I'm someone who finds copying notes helpful.
go slow first.
My last minute method is to memorise by logic
for F&N: eg:
Vitamin A functions, To score A u need good eyesight, with good eyesight u can see people clearly, whether they have good skin or not, and to have good skin u need nerve and muscle to function properly. Skins are usually pink, which is close to red, that is why eating carrot, tomatoes are high in vit A. one thing lead to another
understanding is better than memorising
no matter how i revise.. i sure cannot remember
but when the question is in my hands.. i suddenly know hwo to do
if you understand the topic requirements you'll automatically do well. the onus is on you to 'see the light'
The best method is to do lots of past year exams and think about solving them yourself. If you really cant solve, then approach profs for help.
I have seen undergrads who mugged 18 hours a day at library 7 days a week and they scored a C (no kidding) for the exams.

I said that already... Must do lots and lots of questions
Till I'm taking an approach to set up a free online database for O and A level students to propagate such a method.

Maybe... but for A level GP... I tried it myself...
I did a number of past year papers for practice. Got my gf's godma to help mark.
Within a month, I took my paper, and improved from C5 to A2
The thing about questions is, not only do you practice and do and drill yourself on what is more important, you also get to customize exam tactics and strategies for yourself...
This method is even more impt for the hard sciences and maths... Which is why ExamWorld is highly focused on physics and maths questions
During my uni days.. I prepare for exams 1 month before it. At the start of term, I try to keep up with tutorials, meaning complete every questions. Take notes in lectures as profs tend to give out exam tips. At the last 2 or 3 weeks before exams, attempt past year questions, at least 5 years. U will soon see a pattern in the ways questions are asked. For every chapter, make a summaried note of that chapter after u read through it, even if u dun understand.. Go thru the note again and again..
Towards my final year, I was so caught up with many things and dun really have time to study. I only managed to make notes, do tutorials, attempt past year questions in last 2 weeks. Friends are your best resources, ask them things u r not clear about, they may have a shorter way to understanding an issue rather then u spend 18 hours trying to figure it out yourself.
For my JC days, tutorials are easy and I can complete them. Just 1 or 2 weeks before start revising.
For sec school days, 2 days before the subject paper then i take out the books and homeworks on it and start memorising and puke it out, even for O lvls.
For primary school, I dont even revise =,= only PSLE then i reluctantly revise the day before with my tuition teacher. Only spent about 3 or 4 hrs the nite before the exam and start memorising.
i usually sit near the front during lectures and take down notes on paper. when i go home i'll rewrite the notes into a notebook i have for each unit i am studying.
it's also important to participate a lot during the tutorials as well since the discussion would be helpful to your understanding of the subject.
paying attention during lectures and tutorials works well enough for me to be able to spend the rest of the week playing ^^
i think the best study method would be one that meets the capabilities of the person; some people are able to understand concepts easily while others have to rely on rote learning. don't think there's any one-size-fits-all study methods for everyone, so you'll just have to find your own learning style and match the proper methods.
i dun study at home...i hate to study at home...coz i believe in saving time by understanding in class...after school can use that time to do other activities...
pay attention in class and do some revisions can liao...ppl who makes noises in class get on my nerves...

same as me. I am always very stunned when my friends told me JC is more stressful than uni. I mean, wtf, i didnt even study for A levels!
I skip like 20% of all the lectures in year 2 but attend all tutorials just to follow up. but my subjects all maths and physics so once i understand the concepts or memorise the formula will be enough.
