Please help me verify whether the process described below is the test for ammonia gas.
GCSE SCIENCE CHEMISTRY HIGH SCHOOL - Test and Collection of Ammonia Gas - gcsescience.com.
Specific test.
Ammonia will form a white smoke
in the presence of hydrogen chloride gas, HCl(g).
The white
smoke is ammonium chloride, NH4Cl(s).
Adapted from http://www.gcsescience.com/itestammonia.htm
Why is it that NH4Cl is a solid? Under the solubility table, isn't insoluble chlorides salt confined to just lead and silver salts?
thanks.
Because the Ammonium Chloride is NOT dissovled in water. So its not (aq) aqueous.
