Things to look out for when selecting Canned Abalone this coming Chinese New Year
====================================
With so many brands to choose from in the market, it can be quite deterring for many when trying to select the best deal available. Here are some points to note before making your purchase:
1) Net Weight -
Total weight of can and content (not indicative to the size of the abalones as it includes the weight of the tin and the soup)
2) Drained Weight -
Important indicator as this refers to the net weight of the abalone, after all the soup is poured out. The avg. market drained weight ranges from 140g - 180g. Nine Dragon Abalone has a drained weight of 213g.
3) No. of 头,or head -
This number refers to the number of pieces (abalone) to make up the final drained weight. The smaller the number, the bigger in size of the individual pieces. Note that as larger abalones are rarer and takes longer to develop, thus it is more expensive.
4) Origin -
Look out for indicative codes that reveals the origin of the abalone. Example, Nine Dragon abalones are produced in Australia. EX12 produces one of the finest abalone in the country.
Available in the following variety:
Nine Dragon Abalone (8 pcs mini) - 213g
