Today, one of my former hirer thrown key and went over to grabcar, knn. Let see how he is going to tong. I believe the singapore taxis industrial is going for a big change, some will gain, some lost.

One of my friend, got a 8 yrs old car, loan finish liao, use for GC and ferry some SAT crews (He ferry SAT crews many years liao, go by trips one).......
Ex TD also, now those free time he got don't need to go piak rental, drive according to his own time, smlj ranger he also don't want......
If I lost my job, will join him Liao, but first you give me $50 to dong first......

Wha, ani kuan kong, ho tia meh...knn, once a TD, alway a brother leh. Taxi company close down is going to affect lots of drivers, especially those whose childrens are still youngs, it is a bread and butter issue we are talking about, not like you and me, still got $50 to tong even tho we are drinking starbuck kopi and eating ah yat abalone. Therefore, I think there will be a social impact if taxi companies start to close one by one, unless govt/transport industrial can provide another alternatives, then think will be different. In my capacity (high hor) as head here, all I can say is Taxi companies are not going to easily hand over the business to grab and uber with open arms, they are going to challenge them strongly before calling it a day. I also agreed that taxi companies have been complacent all these years, thinking that there will be no competitors other than just the 6 or 7 companies, then when Grabcall and Uber call come out, they also take it as just a call, no asset involved, drivers still drive our taxis and pay their rental. But when UberX and grabcar go into aggressive mode of using private rental car (asset) to compete, the whole equation changed, and now, taxi companies should be in panic and truly awake, if they are still sleeping, then I believe like what you said will come true, prepare to close down

Yes, this mathematical issue so easy to calculate......
Not only TC underestimate the power of private chauffeur which I also overlook it......
High COE resulting in more and more private car tio stuck until last day of their life span, not difficult to look around your friends, your peers, your relatives, so many stuck with old car with loan pay off, don't forget last time can loan 7 years and with currently job market still saturated, why not? No overhead cost, only petrol nia......
Especially for ex TD stuck with old car, this trend was moving very fast for the past few months......but......
I heard is getting more and more difficult to enrol into Grab and Über if you are using your own vehicles, so somehow, there's still a barrier......
Of course if you want to rent their car and bind by their contract, they open their arm with big welcum, for this kind of drivers, usually will have very bad remarks after driving for a while lor......

"Canberra will become the first city in Australia and the first capital in the world to regulate ride-sharing services," ACT chief minister Andrew Barr told reporters. "It demonstrates a jurisdiction like the ACT can take a national, and indeed an international leadership role, in working with new technology, embracing changes in the way services are delivered to communities." The ACT government said legalising ride-sharing services would help reduce fares for commuters and encourage innovation in the transport industry. To offset any fall in demand for taxis, it added fees for taxis and hire cars would be halved from 2016 and halved again in 2017. Under the new rules, ride-sharing operators will also face criminal and driving checks similar to those imposed on taxi drivers. Barr's announcement came a few days after authorities in Australia's largest city Sydney issued 40 three-month suspensions to drivers offering ride-sharing services, saying they breached passenger transport laws. Thousands of taxi drivers also took part in protests in early September in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane against Uber, arguing the service was illegal and unsafe. One of the few governments to regulate ride-sharing has been the Philippines, which in May become the first country in the world to establish national rules governing such services. France last September also introduced a host of nationwide restrictions on ride-sharing service drivers before they can operate legally. Now GT very how Lian alrdy,ask them abt payment shortcomings, they say pay extra,so gotta deduct lor.but never explain how can get overpay.got one time bank in $700+ but when I enquire,quickly deduct off,but when I ask why so many promo jobs never bank in,until now no reply.when call them,computer voice say ur no.8 in line.tq for ur patient. Brother, grabcar is the trend now, smlj is grabtaxi?? GT is only for Grab usage to promote their grabcar services. AP got few Grab recruiters asking taxi driver to join Grabcar, even some bus stop also got grabcar advertisment. But IMO, Grab is losing the market...that is why there is a strong surge to promote grabcar, tia kong many ex TD who drive for Uber and grabcar are returning back to taxi driving.

Yalor, limpeh 12.30am saw 3 paxs at near cathay TS, 1 aunty, 1 chio kong and 1 chio bu, chiong in only, all waiting for Uberx...with hp. Aunty somemore told me, Uber after midnite cheaper than taxi, and their drivers more young and handsome than me...knn. Wonder if like this go on...its the end of taxi industrial liao
