To be honest, I always find it frustrating whenever i’m in a hurry and it’s forever so hard to get a cab on the road. So the next thing you will do is to book a cab and you will be stuck either at the dialing tone waiting for someone to pick up your call OR receiving an sms telling you that there’s no cab at the moment.
But now, not to worry as I’ve something to introduce to you! I’m sure most of you are aware of GrabTaxi, where you can make bookings through the app on your mobile phone. Now, they are introducing the new GrabCar booking system!
GrabCar is a private hire vehicle booking service from GrabTaxi, the leading transportation booking mobile app in Southeast Asia. Launched in July 2014, GrabCar complement GrabTaxi’s taxi booking services by offering premium 4-seaters, 6 and 13 seaters for commuters travelling in style or in groups with luggages.
However taxi demand still exceeds supply during peak hours, therefore GrabCar(Economy) was launched to provide an alternative option to get a ride!
I was running late the other day for my event at IMM, and I’m staying in the North wast area (SUPER FAR RIGHT?!), I decided to take a cab there. Knowing that i’ll not be able to get cab instantly if I were to hail one along the road, i decided to try out the GrabTaxi app !
Firstly, before you can start making bookings, you will need to download the GrabTaxi app, which is available for free on both App Store and Google Play.
Selecting locations is easy. You just need to type in the landmark or the name of the shopping mall and it will appear in your search results. You can event link it with foursquare as well!
Once you’ve selected your pickup and drop off location, and extimated fare for your journey will be reflected. Add on any notes, for example, at the lobby or taxi stand etc, as well as any Promo code (Make sure you read till the end of the post for SPECIAL promo code for you!) before you confirm your booking.
Once a booking is confirmed, you will received your assigned driver’s details, including name, mobile no, vehicle registration number as well as his photo. You will now be able to track the driver’s movements as he moves towards you and the expected time of arrival too :)
So, what is the difference between GrabCar (Economy) and GrabCar+ Premium since both are 4 seaters vehicles?
GrabCar (Economy) is catered towards the everyday taxi user seeking an affordable alternative when they are unable to get a taxi, while GrabCar+ Premium offers a premium range of vehicles models such as Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5-series, and obviously at a higher fare.
It was a pleasant experience placing my booking from the mobile app and the journey to my destination was smooth as well :)

It is obvious that the 霸王車 is in operation now. the authority still act blur and claim that flag these 霸王車 online is okay.they forgotten the purpose and function of these 霸王車. is 霸王車 is a replacement of taxi service?
To a taxi service user, the answer is no doubt YES.

To the authority, there is no different, GT or Cdg calls are all going to the same shareholders, and temasek is one of the biggest. So why should the authority interfere? you guys can go compete and challenge each other all you want, but at the end of the day, the levy and tax go into the same coffer, that is the most important.

If they can make the fare transparent like LTA said, then these pirate car biz may take off. Now people are concerned about the unknown price surge from Uber. Also more if they can ensure the public that the drivers are licensed, then even better.
Whatever it is, the trend is clear. Unless LTA really step and kill them off, it will slowly evolve and become as popular or even more popular than taxi. Which means.... TDs earnings will be affected for sure.

That's good then we can use our own car to drive as taxi. No need to pay rental anymore and no more complains fr pax to big bro. Now if those fcked up paxs complain ask them to fcuk off

Own car is own car, but dun take thing at face value, you need to pay yr own road tax, put high petrol price, high insurance cost, and car servicing or breakdown is all under you, one gearbox change only chao aho 5k and above, overhaul chao chao 7k and above, then got this problem and that problem, then end up, own car high mileage, poor market value, all these must take into consideration if you want to be a sole properietor, dun just see the good side of it. And if you rental out a car from them, their contractor is Prime or Premium, you still need to pay rental, LPPL.

Aiyoh y2k bro, out of every 10 pax you pick, how many are actually fcked up ones? The most one or two and not everyday got such pax wat. Tio boh? So why for the sake of a few minority knnccb pax, you want to switch?
Anyway, in Jun 2015, gahmen will come out with new rules for these 3rd party booking app companies lah...wait and see lor.

aiyo, my ah fool is like this one, drive for cdg, fark cdg, drive for silver, fark silver, drive for TC, fark TC..and no matter what taxi he drive, will hv problem with paxs one lah, why? because he got a paxless face And like all TDs in singapore.. as a hirer, he will fark his relief, and as a relief, he will fark his hirer...once you understand him, he is no problem one lah, just like to rants and voice his dissatisfaction. That's is also why I am a great buddy to him, because I understand him. The only to avoid or learn to ignore pax is not by books or characters, is by training and driving casket with a dead pax

Yalor yalor, that time, I tried very hard to cool down everyone, but to no avail, I remember even go eat Bak Kut Teh also can end up quarrelling and beh song, because one said Song Fa Bak Kut Teh nice, the other said Bayview Bak Kut Teh nicer, end up, limpek alone eat Tien Tien Chicken rice.. -

Time to take in profit for GT, when GT startup, the input of funds was given 2 years return...so must die die make return for their shareholders. With current approx 20,000 cabbies on GT, they knew that they have reached the threshold of Singapore taxi market, so guess it is harvesting time for them -
