LTA is not stupid as you think, where on earth will they want to do thing that benefit TD and the public without themselves, nothing is free, not even google or facebook, there are motive in everything create, so is this forum. Just like Smrt, knowing that Grab taxis will hurt cdg calls, why still invest on it??? You all remembered that when all these apps were not introduced, cdg calls was king, so much so that lots of call went with no taker, and what happened was, cdg subout to TC, SMRT and even silver to help out their calls. But when they sublet, they earn nothing, and infact, lose competitiveness. So inorder to supplement or create another booking system so that all these call can still form part of a profit for Smrt (temasek group), Grabtaxi was introduced, and being a free market, they also hv to allow easy, hailo and so on apps to play around. Now what happen, cdg, do not even need to sublet call to TC and other taxi companies, so, in fact, all these apps booking are more or less taking on the extra cdg calls.
