Peter Jackson nailed Kong! (Please pardon bad pun) In his version based on the 1933 classic, Jackson delivered as promised, sticking close to the source material, yet adding his touches of epic grandeur. Doubling the original's length, clocking in at 3 hours, provided ample opportunity for character development for the major leads (and even for Kong itself), and doesn't scrimp on elaborate action sequences.

Watched it last night at Lido Cineplex. At exactly 12 midnight

Ok what can I say? They really achieved their goal: "Have audience believe everything they see on screen"
This movie is one hell of a animation. 5 million CGI hairs compared to Chicken Little's 76,000. With dinosaurs. If you read Digital Life yesterday, 2/3 of the whole movie is animation. This movie practically gave all the other animation movies a huge punch in the face. Seriously. Everything is so real, from the way the hair reflects the sunlight and its interaction with the surroundings. Facial expressions are perfect as well. I can't help but say it again, ITS VERY REALISTIC! Well of course, they used Shake for compositing
The actors are great. But at certain part the editing can get a little messy, like when they show it in Ann's POV, when King Kong is running through the forest and everything was very shaky and camera is moving all around.
I like the sound effects and music. It keeps you on yr toes and nobody can fall asleep as you are always wondering what will happen next, will King Kong win those dinos etc. Your heart is thumping and your mind is constantly spinning anxiously.
And I CANNOT stand the creepy buggy part... URGH...
And at the end of it... I can only say... Because of greed, people can even destroy the very thing they love and admire...
Its a fantastic movie... Will bring you from laughing during the first 2 hours to crying at the last hour... -

The 1976 version of King Kong was a flop. Don't watch it!
This 2005 version is without much doubt a lot better than the 2nd version.
Also, I feel that King Kong is just one of those movies that you have to watch at the theatres, for the sound, visual and wide screen satisfaction. -
