Both roles, lots of screaming ... -
I remember him as Titanic's Jack... and in Gangs of New York. In both, he played the youngish, rebel character.
I didn't watch the Aviator because I'm biased against him :p So can't judge how well he did... but I guess should be well enough to win a Globe... not that it will change my personal opinion
Maybe he'll be like Depp - still youthful at 40+ and doing action flicks.

I think he's only good in What's eating Gilbert Grape. He looked too young in Titanic, too young in Catch Me If You Can, too young now in The Aviator...
But hey that's good for him, who doesn't want to look young forever?
