Having ex SAF officers as boss

Have you ever worked for an ex SAF officers like a major or colonel as your boss before? how was it? were they still acting as if they are in SAF?
I used to work for an ex colonel as boss. super duper long winded and everytime talked about alexander the great or war. in one of his long winded sessions, he said to me. we have to be ready for war, even if we are unprepared. anytime we have to go to war and I was like, ya right colonel.

from my point of view, the older generation colonels are colonels because they have played safe all these years. No major mistakes and then promotion comes automatically after some time. Many lose touch with the real world while they're there.

well what he said is properly not wrong about preparing for war if you read history on the Battle for Singapore. He properly have access to information that you don't during his military career.
He is properly was passover for promotion Given that he left the army. He was not good enough.
He properly volunteer for reservist as a Colonel. So don't look down on him he properly still command a reservist battlion during ICT.

no he was a SAF scholar and he asked for early retirement in his 40s as a colonel. now he is in his 50s, almost 60 liao.
