Chotrul Düchen, or "Festival of Miracles," is the first of the four major holidays in the Tibetan Buddhist calendar, occurring on the full moon of the first Tibetan month--March 19th this year. The festival celebrates Lord Shakyamuni Buddha's display of different miracles every day for 15 days in order to increase the devotion of his disciples.
On Chotrul Düchen the effects of positive and negative actions are multiplied ten million times. It's a good day to recite mantra and engage in acts of compassion, kindness, and joy. Meditation practice is especially powerful during this time.
