It's a Buddhist mantra, from the Sung dynasty monk Pu An, who was also an accomplished ch'in player. It's not only one of the oldest ch'in pieces for which the original notation has survived, but it's also the only Buddhist mantra that originated in China. The rest are from India or Tibet.
Nice but I think few will appreciate this kind of music nowadays. By the way, nice meeting you last week and thanks for your help.
oh i am playing guzheng now so listening to this type of music ^^ hope to get a guqin like in the MTV above. Both guzheng and guqin have a calming soothing effect on people.

I have the same interest as you, in fact I've been thinking of learning guzheng for quite some time. Now, you have rekindle my interest. Can you tell me more info on learning guzheng.
1) Where do you learn guzheng ? How much is the fee ?
2) How much does 1 guzheng cost and where to buy ?
3) Is it very difficult to learn and do your fingers get hurt ?
Share with you this piece of guzheng which I like it very much (云水禅心)

How I wish I can play this piece of music ha ha ha.......
Thanks.
Just google PA , they will tell you which community centre is having a course now. One regular one is at Clementi CC.
If you are willing to pay for a one-to-one coaching, there are two ladies who have grade 10 in guzheng and they charge $35-40 per hour. I have to get the numbers.
There are one guzheng shop in bras basah, one in chinatown point. The one in bras basah recently told me the guzheng out of stock, new batch arriving. On the 2nd floor, facing a 2nd hand bookshop. Simple guzheng costs $500 to over $1000 (for mother of pearl carving). Alternatively, you can buy a guzheng or a 2nd hand one through your course teacher.
Your right hand will be wearing artificial nails, so won't hurt, your left hand need to press the strings, will take some time to get use to it. Just practise shorter time till your left hand fingers are used to the pressing.
Guzheng is an easy instrument to pick up to play simple songs. But must have the patience to practise because it is a lot of plucking on the strings. Later skills and techniques come in to play more ancient pieces and that is more challenging.
I notice many men like to learn guzheng. It's an instrument that appeal to guys. ^^
Anyway, this is my nth instrument that i learnt. So it may be easier for me as i have strong musical background.
my two favourite pieces that inspired me to learn guzheng. I can play them now. So happy.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, these 2 pieces are nice too. Just curious, how long do you take to learn to play these 2 pieces ?
just one week.
dun worry la...you can pick up guzheng and play many songs after 3 months.
Especially if you invest in a guzheng at home, more practise, faster to play more tunes. ^^

Oh really ! I hope so. May be you are more talented. Luckily guzheng is not like piano, take many years to learn.

Then you are not informed, Guzheng has grade 10 just like the piano.
It is not difficult to play simple songs on a piano. Guzheng also the same.
But if you want to play more complicated composition, both piano and guzheng needs the skills and techniques to do so.
a comment from a guzheng player on this piece

This is the cleanest and best version of all the ones on youtube. This tune is a famous old classic. Chin is an ancient Chinese instrument. I took lessons for many years. Very difficult to play and very complex hand coordinations. Picking and stroking and rolling with your right hand, holding and rubbing and sliding with your left hand. Playing is a form of meditation. That's why it's "scholar's" musical instrument and not popular musical instrument.
i have 32 symbols to memorise on the guzheng notes . There are basic 32 ways to pluck, press, stroke, pinch, roll , hold, drum the board for left and right hands.
32 variations to play the guzheng in the advance stage.
For basic easy pieces, the players need to understand about 8 symbols.
