  i don't think spiderman is what we call manga.
  
  but i still don't understand why they need to create 2 terms for the same things. anime is actually cartoon, and manga is actually comic. maybe they think the dictionary is still too thin or something

  Because Japan is the leading country on 'cartoons' and stuff. And fyi, only stuff from Japan can be called manga or anime.
