This is the problem of exchanging fame. When you fame a person, you expect him to fame you back. It is suppose to be a fair trade. However, what happens when the other person doesnt give you back fame? What should you do? What sort of redress do you have?
Therfore, the system of exchanging fame is flawed because it is a system with no safeguards in place. It is totally reliant on trust between 2 consenting parties.
One remedy to this solution is to remove the fame system from the game. The fame system after all serves no useful purpose other than an avenue for one to earn extra mesos by selling fame.
The original objective of the fame system is to reward people who are friendly and helpful. People withe more fame are seen as more helpful and kind. However, abuse of the system has lead to people to abandon such thinking.
People are simply buying and selling fame. Thus we see that the fame system no longer meets its objective and is now a source of misery for people who are scammed of their fame and a source of income for people who sell fame.
MapleSEA administrators do not provide any guidelines on the trading of fame as it is not encouraged. Afterall, the idea of giving fame is to be done on a voluntary basis and the giver should not expect anything in return.
As such, we should completly do away with the fame system as it is obsolete and no longer serves its purpose.
actually, it's not about trust. it's about doing something good and get the fame for free, because we do some good deed. the purpose of fame is to encourage ppl to act nicely so that they would get fame from other ppl.
but since ppl dont even bother reading the maplestory rules and regs, they dont know what's the use of fame and stuff. so, i think asiasoft should remove the fame system.
