Hi,
I am an expat, originally from India, holding a work permit in Singapore. I'm 31, I've been here for seven years. My salary is a little less than SGD 100000. My salary has stagnated for the last 2 years. I've applied for Singapore PR thrice and got rejected thrice.
Now there's news that the bank I'm working in is moving jobs out of Singapore to other cheap destinations. My team (product control/risk) is at risk, already there's news it might become redundant.
I don't want to leave Singapore.
What is the chance I'll lose my job sometime this year?
If I lose my job, what is the chance I'll find another job or I'll be made to leave Singapore?
PS: I also hope to do an MBA from INSEAD Singapore. I got dinged in my September 2014 attempt and am now re applying for the January 2015 class. I have informed my managers that I wish to do an MBA, but that doesn't mean that I wish to leave my job as I'm not sure I'll even get through, They told me that my job is safe at least till 2015.
Does such a verbal assurance mean anything?
Hi Aushuk,
Don't worry you have your job forever with good pay raise , you get your mba & PR.
Wake up you a 31 year old man, grow up !!! This is life - there is no assurance !!!
Just take it a step at a time., what will come will come.
In Singapore, don't believe anything you hear. Verbal assurances are as good as a comb to a bald man.
