sian.. got laid off last week by boss who is foreigner and heard he bringing in more foreigners zzz. looks like we all gonna get replaced sooner or lata
o.O sure nots. die liao like that.
too vague to conclude.
Actually Viveliber I'm a foreigner and I'm quite offended by your remark!
Its horrible to keep hearing people saying things like this. I feel very unwelcome in Singapore!
Maybe your boss laid you off because you're no good at your job? Just sayin...
lol where you from kentee. why are you not working in your home country and come to sg to work? its not that we dont welcome you but you guys are taking our jobs!
which fucking country?
kentee: yo nothing to feel offended about if you don't think you are stealing our jobs man. felt like he laid the bunch of us off bc he preferred foreigners tho.
I'm from Ireland. Surely if I have the skills and a Singaporean company wants to employ me then I don't see why you have a problem.
definitely not - i been in there for awhile, no probs until the change of boss to a foreigner.

Maybe in your company requires skills that they cannot find here in Singapore!
Kentee,
If people in ireland can be not happy with foreign workers - why cannot singaporean !!! Kentee - maybe it is time for you to go back ask your own countryman - that you don't see why they have a problem , maybe they ireland require skills that they cannot find in ireland !!!

Viveliber - I think maybe if you feel that you were laid off because your boss prefers foreigners you should take action, because that is not ethical.
Storywolf - Thank you for your research in to my country and it's job market, but I feel that if you dig a little deeper you can find these kinds of articles for most countries. I am sure in Ireland we do require skills from from foreigners that a local cannot do. In that case I think its a good thing to import talent. Just as my company has done, which is why I am working in Singapore now.
Maybe Storywolf you fear foreigners because you doubt your own skills, because if you and Viveliber performed well in your jobs your boss would not have laid you off, it has nothing to do with foreigner.
so kentee dont avoid the qn - why are you here in sg? are there no similar jobs like that in ireland???
Not that is even any of your business Viveliber I am here because I considered it a good career move. The job was better than the salary was better than what I was getting in Ireland so I'd be a fool not take the job.
So seeing as we're sharing what are you doing now? Good luck looking through the job ads!
why don't you tell me what you're doing first!!!!!
First rule of forums, don't take everything mentioned at face value.
Second, most white men are in our part of the world because they couldn't make it back home. The rate of unemployment in the western world is really bad. Ireland's is around 15%. Could be higher if their natives return home. So, there you go.
Viveliber: Calm down... I work in the importing business.
Rock^Star: Really...you're really bring my race in to it? Hahaha pathetic. Lets not stoop to that level. If you cannot hold an argument without taking cheap shots better you keep your mouth closed. Secondly don't be so quick to assume that everyone from Ireland is caucasian.
It is quite the opposite, most workers that I know who come here are highly skilled and well educated, which is why they were offered a position in the first place.
Why would a Singaporean employer offer an foreigner a position if he or she could employ a local? In my case it was because I had over 20 years experience in the industry and the other candidates did not! That's all!
Did I intend to argue? Ha, no. Say what you want :)

you wouldn't know. for the lower skilled blu collar jobs, HR sometimes have to balance the number of foriegners versus locals within the organisation, they can;'t take more, not less. becasue our sg foreign cheap labor policies are too opoen arse. sometimes it may be also politics, local bosses wants more sgreans and lesser cheap labor at times so durig retrancement some of the sgreans can go first he still secure his job. as for executives and managers, sometimes and many times its politics, more in place now, and sometimes its about circumstances - example, company wanna break inot a market and need foreigner with the same natuionality or race so as to have some influence over. its not a virgin clean world out there i tell you.
Well I don't know, to be honest you are never going to see my point of view and I don't think I can agree totally with yours either. All I know is Singapore is a great place to be and I like it very much here!
singapore is filled with stinking PRCs. i go buy vegetrian food run by PRCs and they should alwasy produce recipt for every plate and pack of rice sold. over charge me anyhow and never give receipt. i keep quiet only. one fine day out of the blue i may just call the police on the spot catch them red handed. PRC worker should have cheaper rice but rice still so asspensive? dirt PRCs. singapore is filel dwith lots of dirty PRCs!
Troublemaker2005 - Why don't you do something about it instead of just complaining on forum!
