you got to estimate your success rate in taking over the business and earning a living out of it.
If it aint going to earn your more $ or make you happier if you take over the business,
you may want to get a job instead.Talk to your father for some insights into the business if you really want to do the business.
Got to look into current customers, repeat purchase, future customer etc

And not to forget that in any business you have an plan to be prepared for any "unexpected". For example, In the past, if anyone open retail business, those "educated" businessman will said that if you want to generate more profit, you have to open more branches for sales, however during the SARS period when customer prefer to stay at home, this idea proved to be risky and "outdated".That why reserves fund is always have a MUST for any business.

i am in business and here's a suggestion that is within your context... if doing something a certain way always been producing a result that isn't satisfactory to you, then it's time to change the way you do things. this is applicable to life in general, not just business.
