How much do LTA engineer earn as fresh grad?
How much he expect to earn after 5 years?
How is the annual increment/promotion increment?
How is the bonus(excluding AWS)?
If the sheer amount of details that you need to put into the application forms don't turn you off first, and neither do the lengthy interviews, then your renumeration will be pegged to the rank/level that they decided to put you in.
After 5 years is hard to tell, because LTA is not a profit making entity, so your performance will in no way impact the revenue LTA makes, because honestly they don't make any. So anything that would ultimately affect your renumeration in the next 5 years is solely dependant on your work conduct, and agency KPIs.
LTA is public sector, so again, no such thing called profit making, or sharing, what other stat boards get, you also get. You can be the star performer, end of the day, you get only what the newspaper says stat boards will get.
Bonus as above, tied to the country's GDP.
LTA will give you a stable and secure job as an engineer. Honestly, you don't need to do much as long as you meet your KPIs, and all that blah blah blah. And as such, don't expect big bucks, or big rewards, just enough to get you by nicely, with mainly employee perks.
I do know that LTA is not a profit making entity, so do DSTA...but DSTA engineer can hit 4.5-5k in 5 years...? Just want to know how LTA to compare to DSTA.
I only know the starting salary for fresh grad in 2007, 2nd lower in LTA = 2.9k(with ns)
So I need the info on annual increment/promotion increment to compare the annual package.
DSTA pay about 16mth annual package
Wah lau eh, how to compare DSTA to LTA? DSTA may be a stat board, but they are like a league of their own. And they are under the national defence budget, which is like 33% of our country. They might not be profit making, but they sure as hell got plenty to spend.
If I need 5 years to hit 5k at what I am doing now, that is just damn sad, I might as well find a building and jump off it. I know its not right to compare, because I am in a profit making organisation.
Annual increment is roughly 3 to 10% for stat boards (exception of DSTA ). I know 3% sounds damn sad, but there are money making companies that really only give that much, so the average should be in the 5-7% range.
LTA = stat board under ministry of transport
DSTA = stat board under mindef
I am currently under STengineering, close to 5 years exp with 1 promotion, will hit only $38xx by this july only....my starting only 2.9k with ns with 2nd lower.
That is why I want a see is it viable to switch to LTA or DSTA which pay slightly more..
And I want to compare to how are those same batch as me, close to 5 years exp, in LTA or DSTA, particularly the salary..
How much are they earniing after 5 years in these LTA/DSTA as compare to STengineering
If I were you, I'll stay in ST, or move out to private sector.
In terms of background, I am somewhat similar to you. I am also in engineering, close to 5 years working, also 2nd lowers, but this is my 4th job.
In terms of renumeration, i am nowhere near you. Really really nowhere near you.
I chose not to take any employment in any stat board, nor a GLC for errr obvious reasons.
Really really nowhere near you.>>>mean you earn much much more than me la...
how much you earn now?>>5-6k?

Nope, not doing sales, sales is the last thing i'll ever do. My basic is more than your what you stated above.
My allowances are high, because I travel alot, and face alot more occupational hazards than an engineer who sits at his desk blowing air con day to day.
By the way the sales people here earn more obscene amounts than me. I am at the bottom of the food chain here.
no wonder you are highly paided. you went overseas.....
i go a friend also like you , he do freelance oil/gas, need to do project in offshore oil rig one...need to stay for 3-6month offshore per project one..salary is daily basis...aka US$300/day regardless of weekend or wat...got work mean US300....mean per month 30x300 =9000usd....close to what you are getting...his type is got job got pay, no job no pay one...
for me i prefer to not to go overseas one...unless 1-2week for training only....attach overseas is no-no. I just want a stable 9-6 job with good increment like DSTA...etc
