SINGAPORE - Despite the subdued economy, salary outlook for the next 12 months remains positive, said a global management consultancy.
It said actual average salary increases were 4.4 per cent for 2011.
In a report released today, the Hay Group said it expects average salary increases for 2012 to also be 4.4 per cent.
The top two sectors with the highest salary increases are Banking and Financial Services and also Transportation.
The Hay Group said to thrive in the current global economic uncertainty, companies have to differentiate their reward and employee engagement initiatives for high-performing talent.
It surveyed more than 480 Singapore-based companies, local and foreign-owned from both the private and public sectors.
They were polled on their business sentiments and salary and bonus projections for the next 12 months.
The Hay Group report said the forecast for average variable bonus payout for the coming 12 months was 2.7 months. CHANNEL NEWSASIA

mai hao siao la...
Their "remain positive" means as long as not negative rite???
ANOTHER LIAR
We just had some gloom days ahead prediction. Recession coming soon. Economic slow down. Financial crisis looming ahead.
But our salaries would be promising.
It works. Suddenly I am happy.
Ever year at this time they will say next year will be recession, you know why? This is the time for the worker to increase pay, so they will say coming year will be recession, don't increase too much pay for the worker, but when time come to May to June they will say this year is good year, so that is time for governmant to increase their pay time.
It is just a systematic lie.
If they dun use statistic to prove income and salary have increased, how can they justify the price increase for all the expenses ?
It is obvious what crap they are spinning every year.
Prepare for more price increase.
After that, they will spin tales of recession and tell u to keep low salary to retain competition among the region.

to them, anything as long as "not negative" means it's positive
Economy bad with recession and salary can still increase?
Wait, whose salary are they talking about first?
Or maybe companies retrench half the staff and then give 4.4% increase to the remaining staff.

More promotions and par raise!
Yipee Yeah!
it varies from top performers, average and low....
taji masters usu fall into the average....top ones are those who already mastered and just join the ranks of back stabbing others to stay on top....
the good are usu....classified low but people good to be on the axe lists...
4.4% before or after accounting for inflation? The inflation rate is around 5% this year, so if it's the former, a 4.4% would only mean that our purchasing power is decreasing.

I must stress, they must be smoking some powerful delusional stuff when they decided on that...
Given that I have CCNA how much salary should I be expecting in Singapore? I am currently working in Malaysia though.
It's highly possible but the problem is....the figure has not factored inflation in yet. Real income may not be that rosy. With taxi fares up, the inflation index surely would have risen.
