By right, the service charge aka service commission goes to you, which is 10% every customer. Now, not many restaurant will give you the commission. Instead, they provide you with meals and break time.
Tips only applies to those atas eating place high class
Try to see if you can find some internal job in the SMU itself....for example as a librarian or something....because usually universities give special rates for students......better than outside.
