When I tendered, I reluctantly agreed to extend to stay on for 2 weeks provided I have not found a job. now that I have found new employment and my new co wants me to start early. I have spoken to my boss and the request was rejected. in the employment terms and conditions, when I tendered it was 1 month, but now I have to serve 1 month and 2 weeks.
When my boss requested me to extend to 2 weeks, I agreed to stay on for 2 more weeks in good faith to help out. so if I were to leave on the 1 month, will the company take action on me?
do u have leave to use?
Got any formal document that binds you to that extra 2 weeks? If nil, what proof does the company have to take action against you?
So its all just verbal, I tell you, you ask me, I say yes, now I don't want, but you say cannot kind of thing?
when u say "in good faith to help out"....did u have any official email or document to him or from him to you when this was agreed upon?
everything falls on the employment contract
I have fully utilised my leave, no more leave.
well the HR did send me a letter, saying since I agreed to an extension with my supervisor, so it did include the 2 weeks of extension now. example instead of last day being 1 sep, now is extended to 15 sep.
however HR did not ask me to sign and return a duplicate copy of the letter, just merely sent me a letter.
you are right, if I want, I can leave on 1 Sep, not 15 Sep, as employment contract stated 1 month to serve.
my boss is a selfish person. in hindsight, I should have stood my ground and said no, but I didnt. I told her, I can extend for 2 more weeks provided I have not found employment. now that I have found a new job, I asked her if I can leave 1 week earlier, she rejected flatly, without giving consideration. now I will leave on the my last day, not the 2 weeks extension.
