Transitioning.Org, a website dedicated to helping the unemployed will be holding an event on 4th June (Sat) at 1700 hours for displaced PMETs affected by re employment policies, at the Speaker’s Corner, Hong Lim Park [

.
Responding to queries by Temasek Review Emeritus (TRE), Mr Gilbert Goh who started the site said:
Many of us know that foreigners have came in droves for the past few years replacing many local Singaporeans in the process.
Thousands of Singaporeans are affected and many became under employed as they take on any secondary work just to survive.
When asked as to what the protest hopes to achieve, Mr Goh added that it hopes to bring attention to the following matters:
.
1. Employment Passes and S Passes need to be further tightened up so that middle-classed jobless PMETs have a better chance at re employment opportunities
2. Re-examining the sole usage of retraining to tackle the main problem of unemployment.
3. Implementation of a hybrid plan to bring in minimum wage for low-salaried Singaporean workers.
4. Re examining the tripatite trade union structure here which tends to favour the employers
5. Consideration of a Employ Singaporean First mentality among the employers with proper legislation processes in place.
According to Mr Goh, the event will likely involve a few speakers of fifteen minutes each and should end by 6.30pm.
Presently, it is still looking for contributors either as speakers or supporters for the event, including helpers to do up placards and banners.
Anyone who would like to participate or volunteer for the event can contact Mr Goh at
