What should i do as a HR when a staff just disappear and send in a email to say that he has resign and left for india. And your boss wants you to do whatever necessary to take back the money and things belonging to the company?

Just put prepare the list in $ value of the staff - in-term of things and money he own the company.
Well put up the cost of doing whatever - legal fee .... other cost.
Put that to your boss - he/she will know that the easy way out is to cut their losses - pursuing the matter only lose more money.
If they still want to do it do whatever, make them sign to authorise for it. Then proceed .

if he/she hire a true blue Singapore-born Singaporean with a pink IC, all you have to do is to go knock on his HDB home to find him.
now, you have to buy an air ticket and fly to the country where he's originally from...
hihi, thanks for your comments, i was very lucky that the indian worker is willing to pay back the company.. but also have to be a little alert as not sure how true it is that he is willing to pay back the company.. : D
