I have work in a company for almost a year and have received my confirmation letter long ago, recently I have received a notification from my HR department that they need to do a reference & background checks..
Issue is the employment history that I have provided is not right.. I have actually hold 9 jobs but I have only declare 5.. but there is definetely nothing wrong with my performances, in fact every co I have work for, I have always got very good feedback. The reasons for changing jobs so frequently is because I have always had horrible bosses.. What should I do now? Be honest with the co and ask for forgivness on the account that I have been performing well for the past yr? Will the co forgive me??
I don't think there's anything wrong with that. The 5 that you've declared with them must be good ones right? The other 3 are less important.
Reference and Background checks means check your credential. Education and whether if you had really previously work for the past companies. :) No problem!
In fact all the 9 jobs are good ones, just that I do not want to be view as job hopper, therefore I declare only 5.. Also on the employment period, I am not truthful in the first job, instead I stretch the employment period by adding up all the first 4 jobs.. Its really a horrible thing to do, and I feel that now I am paying for my sins... :(
if they check and find out can say that your ex employers want to take revenge on you for leaving them as you are very good and so they lie to the hr and not you lie?
First of its kind wor.....
instead I stretch the employment period by adding up all the first 4 jobs..
now I know why you're worrying....
Just be honest lor.
What kind of job or company do you work in?
Why do they still want to conduct a reference check when you're already a year into your current job?
ditzy : I very much would like to be honest, cause this is my first time doing such things, and its killing me to live in fear very day.. but on the other hand, i am worried that if I come clean with this, its immediate terminations..
sian7 : its because the process in HR department is turning upside down, so now that they are doing some clean up therefore it was found that they missed this checks from some of the new hire last year... :( tough luck...
It's okay~ You're still young. Learn from the lesson and move on.
ok good luck to you seagull
you hv to tread very carefully here.
I am relating an incident that happened to my ex-gf.
She "stretched" the employment period of an employer she was with. The prospective employer's HR wanted to do a reference check with this employer's HR. Well, after the check the prospective employer's HR detected the irregularity with the employment period and withdrew the preliminary offer citing an integrity concern. She cried for days. It was an organisation she had very much wanted to be part of. It taught everyone a good lesson too. Employment period, salary (if they asked for the last drawn payslip), jobscope, etc really should be stated as truthfully as possible. You nv know what's in store for you in the future...
ok seagull... are you still with us?
