Bank job with spent conviction

  HI,

  I am Singapore PR. 6 years back I was convicted of an offense for shoplifting. I was drunk that eveing and walked out of the shop with out paying the bills.
  I was in singapore court for literally 5 minutes; got slapped with a fine of 1000 SGD and was on my way.

  Now the conviction is spent and as per singapore law I need not have to diclare the spent convictions in job application if asked my  criminal records.

  Question is ...

  I recently got an offer from a Bank. It is for AVP position. A question on the application sheet reads: ... Have you ever been conviced?"
  Do I have to say Yes? will they do criminal record check? will my spent convictions show up in the criminal record check?

  Criminal records or not, convictions or not, u are not suitable for a bank job. Much less a AVP.

  U ask me why?

  U spelled... eveing (evening) diclare (declare) conviced (convicted)

  a big NO for me.

  to be avp, first you must be either an alien or a predator and you must also watch the 2 avp movies and play all the avp games

  since u already said as per singapore law u dont have to declare, den just don't declare.

  Integrity is important in the banking industry and don't bet against them not checking. Qn is....do you have anything to hide? If you don't, then just declare. Better than ticking no and then only to be exposed later and blacklisted for life in that bank. The circle of bankers isn't too big after all :)

  Banks and other gahment agencies WILL DEFINITELY SCAN YOUR RECORD!!!!!

  Gahment WILL NOT ACCEPT EX-CONVICT, BUT THEY EXPECT OTHER PRIVATE COMPANY TO ACCEPT THEM...... FUCK THEM !!!!!!

  take the risk, since it is a spent conviction, by that i assume it's no longer on record...in any case, they'll probably not hire you should you declare so no loss there even if you were to be found out....
