Hi
i am looking for a job. A levels grad here. i read somewhere that telecom company (etc starhub m1 ) pays $9 per hour for call centre customer service officers or something? I was just wondering how and where do i apply for these jobs.
I have read other threads regarding the down side of these jobs but i dont mind working long and stressful hours. I have went to their websites but they say they want perm or students on vacations need not apply. So, i was wondering where do you guys manage to find those $9 per hour jobs.
Thanks in adavance! Your help will be greatly appreaciated. :)
1. i found that job online, either jobstreet or jobsdb. back then they recruited via agencies (recruit express)
2. it was a 3 months contract w/ 2 weeks training. iirc my batch was the last, afterwards they reverted to the 9 months contract
3. the classification under 'part time, $9/h' is for their internal headcount purposes, they want staff who can work 40-50 hours a week. essentially you're on the same working hours as the fulltimers minus bonuses and benefits (i raked up 2k+ on some months)
4. $9/h was in 2006, i wouldn't be surprised if the pay is actually lesser now (debatable, but that's for another topic ^^)
hi zweiz,
i am waiting for my uni and so i can only commit up to 6 months maximum. So now that there is a 9 months contract, that means this job will not be available to me? i read somewhere that while under training, the pay is $7/hour and when you finally start working, it is $9/hour.
Anyways, do u know what are the working hours like? How many working days in a week? i also heard that one has to be prepared to work shifts/staggered hours? Like graveyard shift or something? That is fine with me as well. Just want to be mentally prepared first :)
Lastly, if i have uni interviews, will they excuse me or something? i dont mind taking no pay leaves..
jennifer,
this kind of contract thingy better check with the company, every company have different policies. not to mention my knowledge is outdated liaoz.
also, look around at online job portals. i found one that matches your expectations and for 3-6 months almost right away.

coincidently also from recruit express. hah.
call centre jobs are not onlylong stressful but tedious and frustrating..............got night shift some more.........
i've known guys that quit after 1-2 years............they say they're near to vomitting blood so have to quit or die on the job
haha i found call centre jobs to be one of the easiest jobs in terms of physical & mental requirements
just treat the 'complainer' as some voice on the phone and throw the baggages away once you knock off
compared to my previous jobs in f&b, where you need to take sh!t from customers face2face and juggle a tray of god-knows-what through a crowd packed like sardines all with lesser pay
(only as temp though, in terms of prospects the job is... mehhh)
many are attracted by the rate
and left the job quickly
super high turnover rate
the $9/hr is not easy money
how many times u called the hotlines and managed to find the same CSO u talked to last time?

not true.
like TS, they leave the job because they go uni to study not because they can't stand the job
just go search for jobs ads in classified.
there are lots of call center jobs out there paying $8-9/hr
