anyone in the customer service line, everyday need to face customers or students, either face to face, telephone or email. anyone who need to reply emails to customer know this, customer wrote in to complain and staff need to reply.
no wonder customer service staff dun work for long. who likes to being abuse by customers.
Singaporeans forget that if they wan good service, they have to be polite themselves first.
If you a rude, you expect people to smile and say thank you to you?
Probably curse you.
ppl who have no heart to be in this line shd not be in this line

that is the dilemma for those in front line. everyday kena scold or abuse by customers one in this line.
I know I can't hence I never chose that path.
there is a difference, complain and abuse. if the service or product got defects, customer can complain, fair enough.
but when customer dun get what they want and take it out on the staff, thats abuse.

true. not many locals want to be in this line. someone pay is also not fantastic. but the irony is there are plenty of customer service jobs out there, waiting to be fill up.

Depends. Different if it is a hawker. They have choppers, knives, hot water and hot soup. Which one you want?

lol. they lose the license and wont get a license in future if they do something silly. that will affect their livelihood.
traffic police and police also kena abuse by people leh, esp those given traffic summons, swear at the traffic police, but they risks being arrested lol.

I have done my fair share of frontline service jobs, I can do it, but I chose not to. Even though I am not in frontline, my job still requires me to interact with the client occasionally, no matter how farked up they can be, thats life, I accept the fact that not everyone is the same.
If I am open to that fact, then I can accept the world for what it is, and that alone makes me a better person than every other farking idiot that surrounds me.

There are also ways to counter this... minor accidents... for example, pouring hot soup or water on you when they are serving you... and den say oops sorry ...
Dun forget there are hawker assistants... they wun lose their license.. they probably lose their job and can find another one elsewhere.
many singaporeans are shitty customers i think. It's a much more sincere and polite affair....two way traffic in many other countries.
ang mor customers like to say fark this and that. if you say that again, I will come to your place and smash your head. I dun care, if you dun deliver to my house by 6pm today, I will come to your workplace and farking kill you.
many ang mos still have this white is superior mentality.
ang moh half half.. usually good... but the real cocky ones i tell u... really jialat..
doctors are also front liners isnt it. I wonder if patients abuse or shout at doctors too?
Hospital got a sign say at the counter, they will not hesitate to take legal action if their frontline staff is abused.
rooney9 seems to have alot of complains about jobs

To you all Singaporeans are not polite when they speak to customer service staff, please think again. You are making such misleading sweeping statement. How old are you?
It is not in your thought that customers are sometimes blasted at by the customer service staff when they speak politely to them. Wait till you receive bad service then come here talk about it.

Totally agree.

I would say both sides are equally wrong... and that accounts for like 50% of the population.
Its all determined by your upbringing. Are u a person with patience? Are u a detailed person? Do u pay attention to little details?
If u are a customer who is impatient, a slightly bad customer service is sufficient to provoke u.
If u are in the customer service line job, and u are impatient to customers, there is no way u can make the customer feel happy.
Lets put it this way, a true professional worker in the customer line is always prepared to take abuses and still perform the tasks fully at hand to satisfy the needs of their customers.
The company hire u to provide customer service, not to chase them away. And when they are not happy, u should do a reflection and improve your service.
I do encounter my share of bad customer service but at the end of the day, that is the best Singapore can currently offer to u, in terms of customer service. And like what FireIce said "ppl who have no heart to be in this line shd not be in this line", i cant agree more on that.
ps: i will give my example of a bad dining experience at Causeway Point, Swensen's.
I sat down and order a drink and my choice of food for dinner. The drink came to me pretty fast and I was made to wait for the food to arrive. When it did arrive, the food was wrong and I told them there's a mistake and one of the waiter double check with what i really ordered. I thought my food should be coming soon.
After about 10mins wait, when people around me already finished their food, mine was still not served. I waved my hand at the waiters and I question her why it took so long. As it turns out, the waiter who double check my order did not submit the order chit to the people in the kitchen.
Despite all this, non of the Swensen's staff came to me and say a word of "sorry". We were quite pissed off by their attitude (and this isnt aid by a hungry stomach i was carrying) and we got up and proceed to pay the money and left the place.
While we were walking out, a staff near the entrance greeted us "Thank you hope to see u again."
Well, I certainly wont want to see them again.
my dad got his order 1 hour late.....and it was on the house after he made some noise.
