job contract says get salary by last day of month. my last day is on 30 nov. i ask for cheque to be issued to me on 30 nov. is my request appropriate or do i seem impatient can't wait till the following week as HR promised ?
???
You say contract say you will be paid on last day of every month?
So why no pay on 30 nov?
you can request, it's up to your hr to help you or not
but dont worry about not getting paid. if you still haven't receive salary as hr promised, just head down to moe

Talk to your hr manager about it beforehand.
Nothing wrong with it.
Ask politely.

Why MOM until now have not help you claim back your money?
From past stories that I heard, MOM is very helpful in helping to get back salary..
Unless your boss runs away and MOM can't find him to get back your salary than that is another story..
hmmm where did you hear the past stories fm ? newspapers ? of course the successful ones will be featured.
have you first hand experience with mom ? i have. and i can tell it has not been resolved.
Nothing wrong with that, that should be it. In any case, your present company drag to pay you, the period should not be more than a week. Companies are to pay resigned stafff the salary within 7 days.
Go to MOM for help if your present company refuse to pay you.
@Yumii: you have to ask the HR about this issue, I have the same problem with you last time. The boss was evil (mentally abused me) and always delayed my salary. I should have given a one month tender notice period if want to quit from the job. Instead, I give one day tender notice. He still owed me the salary, but he still claimed the salary in lieu from me since I left without one month notice. Once I brought this case to MOM, there was nothing they can do to claim back my salary. I explained to MOM that i had no choice to do that. I was mentally abused, scolded every single second in front of public, humiliated, intimidated, etc...had I waited for a month more, I would ended up in the mental hospital.
But still, MOM can't do anything. So I asked help from MP. MP issued a letter to MOM. Then, MOM invited me and my ex-boss to attend the court. I also asked help from several employee's asssociation in Singapore that gave free legal assistant since lawyer costs a lot. I did not even claim my money or anything from him, but he still greedily claim salary in lieu!! What the fish!
Well, finally, since too many parties (excluding MOM) got involved and condemned him, he himself dropped his claim towards me.
Moral of the story: MOM can't always be the place we can rely on as employees.
"I should have given a one month tender notice period if want to quit from the job. Instead, I give one day tender notice."
can't blame mom there, you probably signed an employment letter in black and white.
in my case mom gave ex-boss a call, and ex-boss immediately invites me back to collect remaining salary. in cash.
Ts, if you resign, ask your kor kor to look for the boss. Give him a good hearing from kor kor.
Ya, but MOM should give some exceptional case lah...If not, then it seems that MOM takes care more of employers needs rather than employees'. Don't make the contract as the only platform. It means you still have to serve your tender notice even though your boss is going to kill you slowly ya?? Alamak..
Actually if you decide to tender by giving notice, then u can also try to show yr colors becos u r going off anyway.Give back the mental anglish to the boss during yr last few weeks of working.
Thumbs up! actually I really wanted to do that, but it's just..I'm not a bad employee :D
If you really hate your boss and your pay is held up, tender and walk up to your boss and give him a good good scolding in front of your colleagues. Dont give face to him.
okay for all those employer got problem one maybe can check the ration of foreign vs locals. is there a rule for that ratio in spore? if yest you know what to do. if no - we're screwed
heard a colleague who tendered resignation and left company on 31 oct. now he still hasn't got pay. first they promised him he will get pay on 31 oct, then pushed to 02 nov, then now to 04 nov.
after he left, they still call him everyday ask him to do this do that. the manager is slack on hand-over. my colleague is angry and refused to entertain them.

yeah need more exceptions so everyone can claim mental abuse from employer and quit anytime they want without regards to payment in lieu
what's the point of contracts then
Employers in Spore now go for contract basis job,be it foreigners or locals. They does not want us to stay too long to keep getting pay increases every year. The terms r definitely not in our favour. It 's a trend I see.

When you frd take the pay, dont care whether they call or not.
Yr frd has the right not to entertain him.
