  Well, some companies wan to know how u look like, afterall, being a staff of the company, ur image will affect the company reputation...

  For example, u might have a good profile, good qualification and experience... but ur hair is neon green in colour and u have tons of piercing... The company will have 2nd thoughts hiring u... well unless u're applying for something design or arts related

  So that HR manager and the department manager do not have a shock when the interviewee came for interview. Shock uniquely means that the managers should not be sway by the interviewee's good looks, earings or any facial scars at the very first impression that result in selective biasness in choosing candidate for the job.

  The most probable reason is that the application form came generic with that photobox, and typical employees like everyone is, just do what it says rather than ask questions.

  Its actually illegal overseas. Equal Employment Opportunities (EEO) guidelines will actually make all those companies that require photos to be deemed illegal and be severly dealt with.
  
  Unfortunately in Singapore, even government sectors and GLCs also require photo...
  
  But one thing is - if they dont like your face, you go interview oso no use, they oso reject you later on.... so dun waste time... submit your photo first lor... they think ur face "kua ey sai" den invite you for interview lor.

  Suggest you have pic in resume only if the job ad asks for it.

  Few mths ago, Today stated that there are companies which only employ pretty, tall and attractive ladies for desk bound jobs - admin and secretarial posts.
