I'm a 16 year old student whose planning to learn piano for 2months during the November to January that is the free time after O level students finish their O level and before they receive their results.
I'm interested in learning some songs.

Fur Elise
and some songs that i would be picking after my O levels
To be frank, i am totally new towards piano and i have a strong interest in classical piano i'm looking for a studio or a school that would allow me to do jumping grades that too ensures i get distinctions
eg.
Grade 1 then Grade 4 then grade 6 then 7 and 8 (: .
I would be interested in taking both theory and practical for ABRSM.
I do not have a piano at home however would be buying one if is affordable and if portable pianos and traditional pianos are the same (:
Anyone interested send me a email at
you should go to those shops like yamaha the center.. i think plaza sing has one..

I am Absolutely foreign to piano to be frank but i have a strong interest but i do not wish to commit one whole year for it as after my O levels i would have to go for A levels.
I do not have a piano at home and i do not have the money to afford to do so.

good that you learn something you like , kudos.
If you have zero knowledge on the piano. I doubt 2 months is suffice to teach you how to play the songs that you want to learn. My fastest student took 4 month to complete a pop song, and base on the standard, its much easier than the song you requested. And that is also with practice every single day. So maybe you would like to reconsider, and think whether spending this amount for 2 months of lesson is worth it or not. Piano lessons aint cheap.
*sorry, gave wrong example

since he has 'strong interest', u teach her and give her discount lol
Save the money and get a second-hand music keyboard. You'll learn much faster if you practise on a daily basis. If you need guidance, get a book for beginners and ask for help from friends who play the piano.
cool.

lol. I love teaching students who have "strong interest". They are usually the ones who stop learning at a later time. But on a serious tone, 2 months is only enough to pick up the basics and get use to the touch of the keys and songs. Usually such crash course is making use of the memory game, which I don't really recommend. ._.
If got strong interest, make it a long term pursuit. You don't have to practice everyday. You can have lesson 1x week. And practice like 2x or 1x a week? Most students just practice before they attend lesson -.- they are still coping fairly well though.
from what i learnt from my friends. piano seems to be taking up a lot of their times and that they aren't really performing their best in terms of academic results. even for those who are very hardworking. hence. i would only like to learn when my education is not obstructed

If your friends are having their graded exams, and maybe those of higher standard, like Grade 4 and above, then I would say it do take up a little of your time. But for beginners, depending on the teacher's pace, not much time is required.
For me, I would advice, if you really have the passion, sacrificing 3hrs a week is not a lot. And I don't quite believe anyone would study 24hrs a day. In fact most of my students uses the piano to relieve stress during exam periods, If its private, students usually stop lessons for exam period.
To each his own. See how you want to go along this line. =)
You can try out, maybe suddenly you find out that's your talent, tada! You will be on your way onto the musical route
hmm is there lessons thats on thrice a week liddat speed up the beginner course?

Sounds like crash course man.
In such a short time, you gotta forgo the theory part and just learn to listen and play by fingering that's all, i think.
Yea. That would be like a crash course. Whereby you only how to play the songs and that's it. For 3 times a week, you should go pte, whereby they are usually more flexible depending on teacher's schedule, or you can try those smaller music sch where they do not have that much students, so they can accommodate to your timing.
Really. going for beginner course like these also means i get a qualification too? most likely not bahs?
Good luck on ur Piano learning quest.
i got a lot of info from a piano school just now sighs it seems i must have a long term commitment.

You can skip grade. But the practical exams are held once a year. So got to have more than 2 months of commitment. Also, its not very much about getting the certs, everyone out there has it lol. It has become more of a invaluable piece of paper. What is good is you truly learn what music and piano has to offer. There are many Grade 8s out there who can't play very well.
The sooner you get your cert, the better it is, quality of certs are going down. lol.

TYING you're a piano teacher too?
I did Grade 1, 3, 5 and 8 with ABRSM, and 2, 4, 6 with Guildhall, skipped Grade 7. Now on LRSM. Finished DipABRSM already. Piano performance, not the other two
Oh btw TS, please look at your PM.

haha i'm getting it next year. its good to have a qualification in music . its shows ur well rounded. learning to play all the songs i like is another thing to but getting certs and knowing how to play a piano might very well be a more sustainable option . As u said the sooner the better so yahs after O levels and during my JC1 where its JC would be less demanding in first year

Yeap. Maybe when taking piano lessons, who knows you might want to venture into this route and be a piano teacher?? Lol. All the best =)

To be honest, I hated Guildhall, their songs were... Crap.
I did Guildhall because I like changed piano teachers practically every 1 or 2 grades, and some wanted me to do Guildhall the others ABRSM. They didn't give me much of a choice though. ABRSM's A and B pieces were good. For the C-curriculum I like it except the modernist jazz ones. I mean, like wth?!
At age of 17, I guess, DipABRSM is ok~... But I know of some girls from my primary school, at age of 7 go to NAFA, by 14 they get LRSM already. FML.
