singapore technicians & engineers salary is a joke!$2000?!!!

while ministers and politicians take home $1million or $50,000/year, the average tech guy werking in a high tech MNC industry takes home only $24,000/year only.,,,,,with his diploma he sees it impossible to get a degree with his salary is unable to see him thru every month.
with his savings depleted and him being close to starving by the roadside he decides to end his life inside the istana during a public holiday.
even $3000/mth in singapore isnt sufficient to see thru life and savings in spore as life of a MNC is only 10 years before they decide to pull out of spore or retrench people.

Joke?? well most singaporeans are jokers, they use to joke that they got no money, very poor, nothing to eat, life is bad and things are expensive and pays is very less etc etc,
Bloody hell, just look at the obesity fat rate, it is going up all the way, look at the Singaporean crowd at orchard, and the locals uncles and aunties dashing, jam padked for a seat in the IR casinos, and the posh hotels and restaurants buffets or ala carte lunch and dinner on weekends which are alway fully booked, the mad rush in IT and travel fair, buying expensive IT equipment and booking exotic travels like no need money like this...and the nos of increases in Merc, BM and other luxury cars on the road, and also the Q up at launch of properties in which i myself also Q up from katong to near parkway parade for a silver apartment .

It is a fact, foreigners are willing to work what you would work, for alot lot lot lot lot less. If you put in 2.8, chances are, they are putting in 1.7.

if i can recall i think starting pay for some tech is at the 1.2k to 1.6~1.8k range depending on the cert, NTC or NITEC should be lower compared to diploma holders
for engineers with degree @ 2k pay at present rate would depends, if going for higher degrees, the pay is quite highly likely unsubstainable, even for dip holders with a few years experiance 2k for a married person is just the min average, for a single, it is slightly better.
for singaporeans to undercut their salaries and pay off their high HDB housing loans would all boil down to neither a choice or option, more like it's being shoved down our throats in a " take it or leave it "manner.
i guess thats sums it all at the present situation .

I have heard of foreign graduates with Masters degrees or higher asking for salaries in the $1.5-2k range.
When converted to their home currency, that is like mini windfall.
Our ITE and poly grads are probably asking for that sort of a range right now.

thats where the problem lies here.. while we have to work our lives out to make a living here, they have the opiton to go back and live like a king, to make matters worst, competition is stiff due to the "flood" of workers, some PRC tech i know come here on company expenses and work on contract based for 2 years, their monthly pay is $800 but that was abt 2-3 years ago. right now i have already quit that manufacturing line of work but as far as i can see, more and more workers are non-sgeans, even in non-manufacturing areas, in short we are forced to lower our pay expections to secure the job but still go thru a rising standard ofl living where some can barely make it thru.

Don't grumble lah, you can also go overseas to earn higher salary in another country as Singapore technicians and engineers are considered to be better wat.

If 2k is the take home pay, that means he is earning 2.5k per month. and that is higher than average for a diploma holder with 3-4 years of experience. I do not see the reason why he cannot go for a degree unless, he has a family to take care of.
3000 per month is mainly for a degree holder who is still climbing or a diploma holder at his peak.
Annilator47 : It's still true that most PRC earns lower salary. but the PRCs that come to singapore are slowly no longer poor, most of my PRC friends can afford to go overseas studying 50k sgd, or can afford to break the scholarship bond because they do not want to work in sg. one of them can earn 5 digit, fresh graduate in private university. Also, because they are given the chance to study in Poly or Uni, when they graduate, they also ask for the same salary as locals. same cert = same pay.
