Wages is really pathetic nowadays... If this goes on in the next couple of years, I might REALLY consider working as a cleaner/ waiter overseas - the worst case scenario. A waiter has salary of minimum 5-6k SGD excluding taxes and expenses. minus everything I still get 2-3k if I eat cup noodles everyday. Better than the stagnant salary I'm getting now.
to employer, it is very high
if overseas so easy, many already went there
It's not only about your resume; it's also about how replaceable you are with fresher entrants.
Why do they need a more expensive you when they can easily get a fresh grad for a lower pay?
Originally posted by ditzy:You thought? Times change, and they change very fast. FTs come here to do jobs we don't want, so that we're forced to go overseas to take jobs they don't want?
Don't like FTs to come take jobs here, then want to become an FT to take jobs elsewhere?
Hmmm...
O.o That's means I'm stupid. I rejected a 1.7k job for admin assistant yesterday cuz I want 1.8k
Now waiting the news of HR assistant @ 1.8k. Crossing my fingers now.
I got friends who marry New york ah pek... Hmm, maybe when I'm really desperate, I will find one too O.O.

I suppose that applies if they take the course with govt subsidised fees.
I'm seeing a very contradictory situation between reality and what government is saying.
Reality : To increase your knowledge and expertise, and prove you are capable , you need to job hop alot and build up resume.
Government - yesterday's news @ 10pm: To increase productivity (maximise contribution to the company), one should not be allowed to job hop, as money and time is wasted on re-training. Therefore, it is encourage NOT to have salary increment so as to DISCOURAGE people from job hopping.
Please prove me wrong. Are the statements from Government is getting less and less realiable these days? Shouldn't the Government allow salary increment so as to allow people to stay?
@Checkmate : The 3 year bond is applicable to non-sg citizen studying in local school who applied for tuition grants. Eg: poly fees per sem = 10k. After tuition grant = 1-2k (same as sg fees).

Do you trust yourself and your own experiences more, or do you trust the govt to tell you what you should do?

some people their salaries is pegged to gdp
gdp = more people work/export/services - if i am not mistaken
But there's something I don't understand.
Why attract FT and boost economy while letting the citizen remain poor? So that the rich become richer, and poor become poorer? I thought that is bad indication... the gap should ideally be kept tight right?
according to "some" if ft are not being employed here , co would had no choice, but to shift to another country - if i am not mistaken
now gahmen rich bowl job depend on your performance
got one guy mnetion go and stay in jb when you are old
lucky never mention batam
i only interested in ubin
lol! Ubin is also slowly becoming urbanize... When we retire, I expect to see Ubin something like Sentosa. The only reason Ubin is still not yet develop is due to it's "nature attraction". when the lovely environment starts to be polluted, it will become sentosa 2.
Job market is still not good.
Most of my friends are shaking leg at home.
Unable to find any jobs.
Good thing they are single.
I am shaking legs as well. I left my job in Feb and start looking for one around mid march, and reject some application due to low wage. So to be exact, I'm unemployed for like 1 month.
How long are they unemployed already?
