I have nvr seen a contract that need to pay them if u r sacked...what sort of bond is that...n who in the first place will sign it...

Sorry to interrupt,have some problem recently..
I was an contract staff of a company.
On the 24/03/10, I was renewed by this company after 1 year of service.(contract signed)
The contract stated that I will be starting working on 06/04/10.
On 29/04/10 afternoon they called me to postphone my starting date and i agree.
Weeks passes and I did not hear any news/ updates from my company.
Can I get a compensate from them?
Can the letter of appointment prove that I have been cheated?
Can get a lawyer to help me?(what are the charges)

Start work 06/04/2010 but they called on 29/04/2010?What happened to the 23 days?
And I dont understand the situation...U were a contract staff...then renewed contract...I presume U continued working as per normal since contract renewed...then there is no issue of a new start date isnt it?
In any case...weeks passed and U never call the company and ask?

The contract was renewed. But the starting date was defered by a week due to my exam and they did agree.As what i mentioned, on the letter appointment I am going to start work on 06/04/10 but they called and postphone.
During these few weeks, I keep calling them and they keep asking me to wait.
That why I think I am been cheated..

ask them if they are going to pay U while they are sorting out their internal problems.That might speed them up a little.
if they are not, time to go make appt with MOM but most likely have to see what your Letter of Appointment actually says.

for the past 1 month they did not pay me.I did call up MOM,they say the contract is been void as the starting date of my employment and they say if i need to sue the company. It no longer under MOM, i will need to hired a lawyer myself for the civil court..

I am not surprised...as long as there is a contract...MOM will say its a civil case and ask U to get a lawyer.
in that case...try going down to the company personally and ask to see the HR manager...or depending on what U have been employed as....the project manager,team leader,etc.....or whoever interviewed U.
sometimes HR hire people independently from the people that actually requires them...so when the headcount is no more...problem starts.
It might not be cost-effective to sue them...look for another job in the meantime but depending on your relationship with this current company...get a letter for your current Letter of Appointment before signing the next one...cos U wouldnt want to be caught if both sides want U to start work.
