  For the timebeing you can take on this job.  You save on transport fare and travelling time.   Nothing for you to lose.

  TS, if i were u, i'd take...near house is the best...can sleep until last min, rush to work..lunch break 2 hours?..go home leh pa or koon for 1 hour ++ oso shiok..5 bucks an hour may look little but give and take transport fee and sometime maybe lunch & dinner (cuz stay near mah..maybe ur lao bu got cook leh)...they compensate each other ya see...

  TS, how is your stamina? If you dont want to take up the part time job, train up for your ns. Go for run, push up, chin up daily.....when in ns, you will not feel siong.

  see how much you can get before you enter NS.
  will you be satisfied with the amount earned in that short time?

  Yes $5/per hr is little based on today's high inflation. Look at foodcourt, your lunch will cost more than $5/. Most employers are taking advantage of the availability of manpower looking for job. You don't want, others especially foreigners will take. My advice, take the job and gain experience. Take the job and keep looking for other better pay job. If you are successful in getting better job then jump ship. Govt should step in and introduce minimum wages for Sg people.

  33 years ago, I work temp in factory during school holiday,

  the pay was $5/day. Today got $5/hr not bad liao

  Not bad le lah... I spend 1.5 hours or more on my financial blog per day, and only earn about $1 to $3 per day... <$5 per hour liao...
