As a HR Personnel that does recruitment for an MNC company, that seems to be the case for a lot of Singaporeans from my experience.
They seem more concerned with how far the work location is at compared to the actual pay.
One person that my company wanted to hire (which would have netted her a 30% pay rise from her current pay) refused the offer because the location was "too far"
if u live in pasir ris would u want to work in tuas?
if u live in jurong west would u want to work in changi airport?
the travelling time to n fro is tedious
unless the pay is very good, u wont mind.
but sometimes too long of a travelling time plus working long hours can drain a person's energy. imagine leaving the house at 6am, n coming home at 9pm everyday. shag ah!!

Agreed with Shark. You stay east, you want to work in west? Also depends on the salary. How much you willing to give.
Would you still want to hire that person if everyday she came to work unhappy and tired because of all the time and effort spent just to travel to the workplace?
Live in Pasir Ris
go until Tuas and Work.?
Times must be real bad then
When u leave home
the sky dark ..
When u reach home
the sky also still dark one
If the salary only $1k per month, and expect pple to travel from west to east, nobody will grab the job.

I believe if the company offers like say a dormitory, some people would want to grab it.
But how many companies will be willing to house their employees in dormitory?

for singaporeans...not likely...
for foreigners...they usually rent flats so they can just move closer to the workplace.
dorms are usually for low/semi-skilled workers....those doing white-collar jobs find their own place...
Far or not is quite subjective....I almost took a job in Bedok and I stay all the way in the west...job is something I want to try....pay is normal only(but still its an increase from my last job)...Now....I travel from west to north...also not that near lor...
