I have a friend who works for a company called Teledirect Pte Ltd, who handles the call centre operations for Singapore Airlines Krisflyer Members flight bookings.
She was conned into signing a 18 months contract with them, thinking that the pay is good with incentives and good welfare for working under a well known Singapore Government owned company.
Never know the danger of signing a work contract without even starting on the job, she was horrified to know that the so called incentive was near impossible to hit and they will be penalised with forfeiture of half month of their incentives for just taking 1 day medical leave for the month.
And if you are late for work even 1 second for just once in the month, you will lose the entire month's incentive.
And best of all, whe she was interviewed, she was not informed she is not allowed to carry her mobile phone into the call centre area during working hours and had to leave it in her locker.
And after sigining the 18 months contract, she will have to pay a penalty of 2 months salary if she leaves the company less than 18 months in the job. To top it most, she is still liable to pay the 2 months pay penalty even if she is retrenched by the company within the 18 months contractual period.
Urgently informing everyone not to work for Singapore Airlines's Krisflyer Membership Services Teledirect Pte Ltd.
And strangely, Singapore's Health Minister will allowed people working in Singapore to be penalised for taking just 1 day medical leave when they are genuinely sick. And there is totally no workers protection for people working in Singapore even the Ministry of Manpower always proclaim the tripartite agreement between government, employers and employees will seek a balance of interests for all three parties.

Is this Teledirect company under SIA or on its own?
did she even read the contract?
are you joking, as a HR trained professional, all these rules violated MOM rules and employment act and regulation.
teledirect is in no way affiliated with SIA.it is just a private contractor as like supplier of cheap labour.this isnt military way...more like prison sentence in chango prison....military method does not do it this way.
it is more like a police prison .
no military organisations do it this way!they only di it like this in changi prison.military organisation worldwide have the will to change things for the betternment of its people.however it appears werker here is treated worse than a criminal and worse than a target board at a shooting range...
How about companies like TMC, MDIS which force their staff to sign a 6 months or 1 year contract and if they leave within this period they have to pay 1 month or 2 months salary?

unless they put a gun to your head to sign the contract, who you want to blame ? ......
it's incentive right?? not basic what.. u complain what??i always wonder why ppl kpkb about 13mth kena cut when it's alreast stated it's not 100% one..... so always just look at the basic lah.. anything else is a bonus...so if ur boss ask u why u leave u just tell him basic too low lor.. then he tell u got alot of incentive wat.. u can reply him it's not fixedd and they can take it away anytime.. so bo counted
some call centers do not allow phones in the working area due to their clients' information like credit card numbers... since this company is working with SIA, it sure has tons of sensitive information...
teledirect seems to be an outsourced company for SIA... i have a friend who worked there before... it seems that he is enjoying even though he is just an agent... he once told me that the working environment is stressful but still manageable... when working outside, taking medical leave is serious as other people will have to cover your work or the work will be halted... what form of penalisation did Teledirect give? No-pay leave for that day?
