Hi,
Most of you will said is no but I ask because I do not want to take risk.
Well, let me explain.
I am currently in a electronics sales job. Basically the pay is good but the problem is I need to travel oversea very often.
I just applied for a Sales job ( company dealing with printing and labelling ) which I have been asked to go down for interview. The problem is I cannot accept a high different from my current pay so can I ask them whether they can match my expectation before I agree to go down for an interview?
I think your job is good and the salary is ok yes if i were you i will ask the boss if they can match my expectation and how much the salary they can afford to me
That means to ask before i go for the interview right?
Asking is always good, it saves a lot.
However asking for people to match your request works only when YOU are the one in demand, in which case the negotiation ball is in your court.
Remember, to ask the right person, ie ask to talk to the boss or whoever it is that has the authority to decide if you get the job or not.
Oh, and before you ask, inquire if your skillsets are required and that you are able to meet their expectations.
Usually, the job advertisement would ask interested applicants to state expected salary in your resume. HR would call if they think you are a potential candidate and they are willing to pay you your expected salary, of course they might try to lower your salary.
Thus, i disagree on the idea of asking if they can match your expected salary b4 even going to the interview. If you are the person the company want to hire , your interviewer will "fight" for benefits on behalf of you.
