Go and sell Nasi Lemak. Better for you.
with more and more dealings with mainland chinese there will be more companies needing chinese-and-english-speaking workers.
just for communication and hope to do business with mainland aka china
my mandarin aka chinese 100 time better than my english
so what
still the same what
lppl understand
if in future mainland co - their hr can just hire their own prc
others are not allowed
in the end whether you know the language or not
also make no difference
there is cons and pros in learning a new language

You know "wah lan leh. sian le." also hokkien lah...
I thought you chinese sia...
Good to know mandarin. Can go learn. Its like learning Japanese, French or German. One extra language you learn, one more country you can visit, be it for business or pleasure.
But speaking of finding part time work, actually there are many ways to land a job.
Bigger companies usually just need to speak English.
Small SMEs, on the contrary, love hiring their own race, probably easier to communicate in their own language amongst few staff, though they do not specifically say sometimes.
if cannot answer, just say wa men ti lor. :D

You are lucky to be living in Singapore, an international trading centre, despite the dissatisfaction of some minority here.
Our country serves all kind of customers from the world as well as penetrated into their markets to sell our products and services- US, Europe, Middle east, latin americans, russians, etc.
Language use is one means of market penetration.
But for you, with your expertise in only english and Bahasa Malay, it would be foolhardy to find employment in markets that cater mainly to China and chinese speakers who knows not english well. You will not be able to grow and get promoted even if you are hired, for your performance will be below par and lingo will be your hindrance.
However, if you were to move into markets that serve Malaysia, Indonesia and the middle east - huge markets, - you will greatly prosper, quicker than your chinese counterparts, for malay and muslims are of a lower percentage in this trading centre. Your chinese friends have a long queue up the corporate leader just serving the chinese sector.
You are in the advantage. So long as you pick the right courses and right companies to display your talents, being a diploma holder. Or if you wish to try to compete in the chinese markets, you can start learning different languages.
The world is your oyster. It would be up to you and how you culture it to offer up you her pearl. Good Luck!
