go find @ marina bay sands IR or sentosa IR...
an entry-level casino table dealer's job is a guaranteed $1800 / month,
and this hasn't even + plus + tips, commissions, and overtime payment yet...
===============================================================
from www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/445700/1/.html
SINGAPORE: Singapore will for the first time boast a gaming industry, when two integrated resorts (IR) open in 2010.
One of the resorts, Marina Bay Sands, is having difficulty in finding enough dealers. It has only managed to fill less than half the 4,500 positions needed to man the gaming tables.
Ken Davie, senior vice president of casino operations at Marina Bay Sands, said: "In Macau for example, or the United States, if you say dealer or croupier, everybody knows what that means.
"Initially when we had the first job fair, we felt that we had the numbers we need, then realised that many of those were duplicates. And as we looked into the numbers we realised that more than likely the Singaporean group we were going after may not exactly understand what a dealing job entails."
Marina Bay Sands' first recruitment drive in March saw about 8,000 applications for all positions.
Mr Davie said the resort has had better success recruiting non-gaming vacancies - in particular, marketing positions are the most popular.
The company said the starting pay for dealers is S$1,800 a month, before tips. They may move up to become pit managers, earning up to S$6,000 a month. Shift managers may earn up to S$11,000.
Since March, 1,500 dealers and dealer inspectors have been recruited, but the casino needs another 1,000 more. It hopes its job fair at Suntec City this weekend will help boost numbers.
However, with a second casino opening on Sentosa island, the pool of eligible candidates is set to shrink.
"You have to remember also there are two IRs. So the dealing pool may be split between both of them," said Davie. "So I may say we have 1,500 people, but it may not be that amount when we finish up. They could be applying for both, they could have Letters of Intent from both, and we can't prevent them from doing that."
Marina Bay Sands said it is focusing its recruitment drive on Singaporeans, but what if targets cannot be met?
"We haven't crossed that bridge yet," said Mr Davie, adding that experienced senior gaming staff will be brought in from its other casinos in the initial period.
An applicant for the position of a dealer need to be over 21 years old, know basic mathematics and pass a colour-blind test.
Prior experience is not needed as successful applicants will go through an intensive three-month training course at Mountbatten Square, fully paid for by the casino. Training will start in the fourth quarter of this year.
Those who complete the course will receive a Workforce Skills Qualifications Certificate in Casino Gaming.

with higher educational qualifications: usually air-con + office-hour jobs
with lower educational qualifications: usually long working hours + labour-intensive jobs

I have a friend who graduated from poly with a diploma in Banking and Finance. She got offered a $1,200 job as an admin assistant, she didn't take it up. She then worked as a production operator for a few months before finding a job with NEA.
She doesn't surf or troll in forum, but still she got offered $1,200.
the NEA position she gotten must be under the CSO scheme of service, which is for N /O/ A/ ITE holders.
the civil service usually recruit polytechnic diploma holders under the MSO scheme of service, while degree holders are under the MXO scheme of service. along with the different scheme of service comes with the different salary range for career appointments.
i heard that a very recent civil service recruit review that wef 2010, ITE holders will be recruited under the MSO scheme, but the MSO Grade appointment will be placed just below the MSO Grade for polytechnic diploma holders.

MSO: management support officer

Actually it is not clear on what job you apply or what is your occupation?
Sometimes, in the bank, the trainee pay is always very low, like 1K plus but the commission and bonus are high . Even the medical officer on training is also getting about 1 k plus allowance as a start.

ya lor... what diploma? majoring in?
TS' exams grades for all subjects? your GPA? your CCA grade?
what job? what company?
a fresh graduate without working experience at an entry-level job matching on par with salary?
I am only just a "O" Levels holder, getting $1800/month.
I have a friend in the army, sec 2 standard, earning $2500/month.
Work are tough and time consuming. It depends on the mentality of TS.

what did your friend do?
He was a waiter then, now a outlet manager in a restaurant.
brothers a system that calls itself world class means world class salaries. But we dont see it..
A higher qualification does not neccessary warrants a higher starting pay... But a higher qualification definately has more prospect then one with no qualification...
Look at the long run... see far...
bro, u have to understand that our govt claims its world class system.. but why are we paid meagre sum? Are we cheap workers?
i did followed the rest but is the person trained for the job? If you have the paper but not related to your training and no experience, how to command that kind of salary

cheap workers? are u refering to entry level or higher post job???
If u're saying singapore is world class education then everyone in singapore has the same education, wat is the difference whether we world class or not since we're the same type of education... Unless u compare to other country but I dunno where u'll find the stats...
One cannot but marvelled at how our leaders so proudly pronounced our ranking in education and other international rankings praising Singapore like changi airport and other achievement. BUT at the same time refuting other ranking that measures other parts of the education system that is not in our favour.
education system is not changi airport to be advertised and made $$$ of , thatsh what sg edu system has been doing so far.

No lah. If NEA offer $1200 might not be CSO position.
It could be environment health officer position which does not require a diploma holder to do.
But think on the good side.
Civil Servant get good bonus and benefits..

What else do you expect?
The PAP government keeps importing cheap foreign labour to steal jobs from Singaporeans.
Ooops!!!
Did I say steal jobs from Singaporeans, according to the official PAP media, it should be foreign labour creates more jobs for Singaporeans.
S'pore govt is rich but S'poreans are poor
even mac crew in aust
earn 15/ dollar an hr
they have minimum wage by law.
but don't forget, their income tax rate is much higher...

Though Australia have higher income taxes, but the after tax disposable income is still much much higher than the paltry sum Singaporeans are getting.
Though GST in Australia is 10%, but they have exemptions for basic food products, medication and books. They don't like to help the poor that much in Australia. In Singapore the PAP government has a GST blanket on everything to help the poor.
