I am an engineer. Over the past year, I have been squeezed out of my job by cheaper Chinese, Malaysian and Indian engineers.
To them, $2000 is much when they remit back home.
To me, I can’t even afford a HDB, as frugal as I try to be, because the foreigners keeps driving home prices up on a daily basis.
To add insult to injury, more of the foreign graduates replacing me had their university fees paid by our very own Ministry of Education. These graduates were not only given free college education, they were even given a month allowance of few hundred dollars each. While I had to work part time to support my education in NUS, and I still remain in debt to my student loan. (BITTER LAUGH!!!!).
I spent 2.5 years of my precious youth serving the SAF, during which I lost my first girlfriend during training. These foreigners were given PRs and citizenship in less than 2.5 years and they don’t even need to serve.
If war breaks out, I have to protect 1/3 of the population fuilled with these people?? (Assuming they dun run away at the 1st sign of trouble??!!) SAF even sent me a letter threatening to fine me for going overseas without telling them…to attend a funeral of my uncle…(BITTER LAUGH!!!!).
Hey, here’s an idea, why don’t I migrate to another country before migrating back. That will save me more time!
I am working in odds jobs now 7 days a week. I am now almost 30 already. Inflation exceed my savings rate, and I find a home, marriage, kids and happy future beyond me. A simple illness or a year of unemployment could wipe me out. Yet the government is wondering why there are less marriages and births….(BITTER LAUGH!!!!)
I bear no love to my country now. My country does not need to be attacked, it has already be invaded and taken over.

The last sentence is very true....
"My country does not need to be attacked, it has already be invaded and taken over."
Being betrayed by our own government.
This is the ONLY solution they have, compete with China and India on manpower cost, so import more cheap foreign talents.
But if you ask me, I would say 66.6% of the population deserves it.
Sigh...another guy...another story... How much is real, how much is made up? No one knows.
Why would a company fire or let go of a talent or a capable worker? Was it just because of cheaper talents? And spend time to train them up, time no company would ever find profitable? Or an attitude/work problem?
Regardless real or made up stories. destiny lies in ones's hand. As long as we have brains, hands and legs, and living within a society, no one needs to go hungry. The only issue is how one handles change - facing up, confronting it and overcoming it.
Competition is a reality. Either we face it here and rise above it within our shores or we will face it from somewhere else much tougher and have no control over.
There is only so much others can sympathise. In the end, it is still one's decision, to rise or to just roll over and play dead.
Cheaper, better and faster.
Enough said.
and bigger boobs
Strange that this kind of competition only happening in Singapore.
We don't see this happening in EU, Nordic, USA, Australia or Japan.
Singapore must be very unique like what the MM said, so much so that only PAP can be the government.
Singapore is the only country where 30-40% of the population are like hotel guest.

Whoops, is this a conversation about vaccination? I could have sworn it was about foreign talents when I first clicked on the link.
These bunch of motherfucking cocksucking PAP bastards.
Sell out country to foreigners.
Don't overthrow them, everything will be doomed.
FUCKING PAP.

The issue here is whether a level playing field exist to begin with for ordinary male singaporeans.
How does a normal male uni graduate compete fairly with non NS liability foreigners on a scholarship paid for by MOE?

Destiny by yr own hand...
No matter how seriously disadvantage u are. Yr believe in great PAP shall never be diminished. U must worship them like God. Those disadvantages are just a training to make u tougher. Cos Singaporean are tough, they can take it. Worker harder. Take more jobs.

How are u ,gazelle?
I once worked with one of our company's customer - can't remember he was from Denmark or Norway. But he speaks English. He told me something i remembered well. He asked me when we saw some foreign workers cutting trees and eventually our conversation led to labor and workforce. He said overr at his country in EU they had cheaper labor force competing those low ended jobs, people from Poland and some neighbouring countries. SO foreign labor is real issue. Just that in Singapore such a small country such happenings unchecked may mean some employers using cheap labor as alternate excuse.
how very true...
yes all employers are trying to cut cost lar. since the bosses salary is high, why dun they themselves cut their own salary and bonuses.
its no wonder that call centres have been outsourced to phillipines, msia, india etc.
Guess the poodle dun know how to handle the "reserves".
Reserves used to pay for school fees of foreigners.
Reserves used for paying losing investment.
Reserves not used on locals who generated the reserves in the 1st place.
We are one - for whom ?
It is an insult when the advert was run on asking people helping the people who are out of job.
When the problem was caused by another honest mistake, why is the people paying for it ?
If the reserves are not even used for lift upgrading, what are we paying for ?
The author has some points. The playing field is definitely not fair.
But then again, through working extremely hard via tuition and proper investments, I have achieved nearly average of SGD500 per month in dividends from defensive equities at age of 26 now after 1.5 yrs of working... Still, the amount I have invested is easily achievable by a non-NS foreigner without working as hard as me, because they have 2 extra years... In fact, I would only considered myself has having "caught up" only...
This letter is so true...
If its really true then i pity the guy.. kanna betrayed by his own government, haiz...
The foreign talents are really too much already. Abit is still okay, but it seems that our government is hell bent on employing them and forcing those singaporeans that are not the cream of the crop to die. This is pretty bad.
I totally agree with the last sentence "My country does not need to be attacked, it has already be invaded and taken over."
Its just so true...

Hava a look at this piece of article first.
5 years down the road China precision engineering would be more matured and advanced.

Is that really gazelle? Hey Gary, how's the tin-can business?
I dun think we should blame the goverment at all just becoz foreigners are willing to accept lower salaries....this is occuring in the whole world......not like singapore is the only country doing that....one thing i notice about hiring singaporeans is that they tend to whine a lot, expect the job to be relax while commanding high salary...
That's why in my company i would very much prefer hiring foreigners whenever it allows.....especially my previous experience of hiring singaporeans has not been that great.....and one should not blame boss for wanting a bigger cut of the profit either....simply put it....if u have what it takes...no one is stopping u from setting up ur company....u can always walk out of ur work place and start a bizness of ur own....anyway most likely some ppl will get offended reading this post.....
