Just wondering, if enough of the workforce is on contract, and the economy shrinks resulting in unemployment, will we be hit with our very own version of "sub-prime crisis"? Will interest on loan rise? since a contract position can be seen as a less secure long-term source of revenue than a perm position?

lol good thought good thought..
i doubt unemployment will lead to increase in interest rates, unless the unemployment is so so severe that drastic measures need to be taken..

I mean interests on housing loans, car loans, etc etc. all the personal loans. Because your job is less secure. So those financial instituitions take on more risks in lending u $. So they will want to raise rates lol. Wonder if it happens, what is the effect on our financial instituitions' credit ratings (like standard & Poor's, Moody's etc) and their strategies to counter it.

1 week of pay for every year of service?
I tot it is 1 month of pay for every year of service?
in singapore, nowhere in the employment law states that compensation has to be given for a retrenched worker. Those who give one month are very kind already...
