If you have the habit of job hopping like changing 3 jobs in a year, what will be the best way to write in your resume.
Write down all 3 jobs but write that it is all temp jobs and hope that the new company will not do any reference check on your ex companies?
Write down 1 job only and write that you work in this job for 1 year and hope that the new company don't do any reference check on your ex company?
Write down 1 job only and lie that the remaining time you were doing your own business?
So which is the best way?
just say all r temp jobs, then u r just being practical n realistic, the next job offers a good pay to match your competency n qualifications...
Just say that they are temporary position lor.
say "the grass is always greener on the other side". lol i don't know , i'd write all. even though you had short jobs, you did have collective experience, that should count for smth right.
(ok i dunno abt other kinds of jobs cos i'm a graphic designer, job hopping and freelancing is super common. in our economy now, it probably applies to all unless you're really experienced and considered a GEM to your company. )
do you guys feel that most of the resumes are fakes. does HR bother to find out if the candidate jobs held, qualifications and pay are accurate?
I once got a job without the HR asking me to fill up the application form, nor asked me for photocopies of my educational qualifcations. just asked me to go down to sign employment contract thats all.
hahaha like i said somewhere else here in sgforums, its mostly BS.
if HR were to do reference checks, lets say 10 candidates are shortlisted for interviews, do they bother to call up their previous companies and asked for reference, or do they only call up their previous companies for those they are about to offer employment?
Most companies do not do reference checks, very little does so.
They will assess you on your paper submission, and then assess you again in the interview.
The interview is where you make it or break it.

ya I suspected so. do you know why? cos HR is sometimes staffed by HR exe and HR manager. for a big company, the HR staff are also not much. HR also need to do payroll and OT. where got time to do reference checks.

You will be surprised to know that a MNC actually called up the company the candidate is presently working for reference check even before meeting up with the candidate for interview.

only those big reputable companies lar lol. I am sure their HR department are well staffed unlike those companies whose HR are staffed by 2-3 persons.

It is hard to tell. Whether big or small, it depends on the policies of the company.

I worked for a medium sized company before, about 20-30 employees. it is staffed by an HR executive. the GM double up as HR manager. do you think this HR exe got the time to do ref check, process OT, payroll and other admin HR matters?

depends on job position, job scope, industry and company.

why not?
It is only once in a while like once a year or maybe once in 2 years time that they employ people so they can spend the time to do a check on the ex companies.
It is not like they are employing people everyday..

Isn't that like sabo the candidate?
Than if after the interview the candiate did not get the job and his boss knows that he is going for job interviews than he die..

well this company I used to work for, is not once or twice a year recruitment exercise. its every once, twice and a few months type. for SME companies, employees are always on the lookout for better jobs and companies to work for. I remembered for this manager, who quitted after 3 weeks lol. nobody knows why she quitted after 3 weeks? probably found better prospects elsewhere

if 1 of the job that you have worked is a government job and the next job you apply for is a government job too, high chances that they will check and find out that you are lieing that it is not a temp job because civil service is closely connected..

I should say that is really uncalled for. Thank goodness that colleague of mine got the job.

Sometimes it maybe a blessing in disguise.
If your boss knows you attending job interviews and he wants you to stay he may give you pay increment

what if the manager is unhappy with you and hope you leave lol
afterall your job is not that vital and if you are to quit, he/she can always employ people to take your place. even CEO's are not indispensable mind you. if the company sacked its CEO, there are others who can take his place as CEO.
