How do you answer such type of stupid questions being asked during interview?
1. Tell me why I should employ you
2. Why is your results so lousy?
3. What are your career objectives?
4. What do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Talking about job interviews, why is it in white collar professions, a job interview is even harder than a Singapore Idol Audition?
In a job interview, I bet you the bosses still don't know what they want. Whereas in Idol Audition, at least if the judges find you can sing, they choose you. They already know what they want in their selections.
Seems like every boss is actually expecting like Idol judge Ken Lim. Which I think is more unrealistic and too exaggerative.
Why is it so?
because if you get selected in the interview the boss will have to pay you a salary every month whereas in singapore idol if you get selected you don't get any pay/rewards unless you win the 1st price.
because bosses are stupid they don't even know what they want
if u think the qns are stupid, the boss is stupid, then u can just walk out.
don't need to walk out.
get the job, start work, earn the boss money but don't do anything for him and prove that he is stupid to employ you than throw your resignation letter at him and do that for the next boss
these interviewers are not HR educated or trained. I got interviewers in the past asking me, I dun think you are suitable for this post you are applying. what a waste of time travelling to the company and have these people telling you upfront lol.
more like ppl just send resumes blindly
desperate for jobs
they no think whether they are suitable or not

I also have.
The interviewer tells me your experience is in this field not related to the job.
KNN. They have already see my resume already and they know what experience I have. If they think my experience not related than don't tell me to go down for interview lah
Singapore is such a small red dot and a young nation.
Cannot compare with US and UK where there are many types of jobs available in the market since the 19th century.
You know in US, there is such thing as School of Psychic Research.
Ghostbusters!

1. Tell me why I should employ you
Cos I will give you chance to be employed by you.
2. Why is your results so lousy?
Cos those with good results will not come here (and therefore interviewed) in the 1st place.
3. What are your career objectives?
To be interviewed by you so that I can give you chance to employ me.
4. What do you see yourself in 5 years time?
I can only know after I accepted your offer to employ me.

in fact, all these questions are taught to HR staff to ask during interviews by www.shri.org.sg ...
u r just plain lazy to not to go buy some HR books from bookshops to read and do some self research... or at the very least, go library and find such HR books to read...
these type of questions will not prove anything. does not prove you are capable or anything one.

These are not stupid questions
government job interviews are even more nerve racking. there are panels of 4-5 people asking you questions.
huh, all those questions just basically make you feel like a retard, and if you've any self-respect, just go. don't have to put yourself through that. if you really have to answer those 5 questions because (a) you are in need of a job because you wanna buy that tee/dress/skirt/shirt/tech gadget you just saw in the shops (b) you need to fill your own ricebowl and a few other mouths (c) you just want to get the job to kick the interviewer's ass 2 weeks later, just lie through your pearly white teeth. you'll get the job anyways because it's the BS that they want to hear - things that you are not capable of doing completely, qualities you don't REALLY possess. it's a mad world where ppl eat each other up, so you have to try your best to get the biggest slice of the meat. just LIE. come on.
These are the standard questions that interviews have... cos they would actually make a more vivid impressions of yourself in their mind so as to aid them in ticking the Suitable/KIV/Not Suitable checkbox on the interview form.
1) Tell them how you are suitable for the job, your relevant working experiences or even task that you did that is revelant, your passion for the position.
2)Defend yourself. Make your strong points visible while cover your weakness (like lazy, stupid, unwilling to learn, etc...) .
3) Say it in the light of the coy line direction. like if financial line, then say that you are always interested in it and etc...
4) Say it like you are gg to be employed and will be promoted.
did anyone had interviews whereby the interviewer sort of like asking you a question that seemed to humiliate or embarrass you, like you have been working for a long time and you are still an executive?
some will ask why ur current job is in a different industry whereby ur qualifications major is in this other field of study...
e.g. y u now in F&B sector whereby u studied business marketing informatics back in poly?
ya true. they will ask you why your study and work in a totally different field. this is called curiosity.
Originally posted by Rooney9:ya true. they will ask you why your study and work in a totally different field. this is called curiosity.
It is more like finding out how sincere the candidate is to join a different industry
isnt F&B is also a business...?
e.g. help in expanding business, marketing to new customers, increase revenue and profit...
its proven that these interviewers are untrained HR people asking generalist questions. there are techniques and set of questions asked to solicit genuine reply.
is this question is not meant to humiliate you, I dunno what is.
I saw that you have been working for many years and you are still an executive.
just say u r being the nice low profile guy who dont dabble in office politics and the next thing u know, u got colleagues stepping on u to get all that promotions and being backstabbed by others only just because u r a nice and good guy...
