Hi,
i went to the job fair and realised the following:
1. many many foreigners are there to look for jobs also. well, many asian countries also have a lot of retrenchments. so , where can these go to where it is pro-business and welcome them? so many of them.
2. so-called job fair is 50% full of education providers who are there not to recruit people to work for them but to seek customers to be their students. in short , a revenue generating opportunity. get more sales from the jobless. whether the jobless get to benefit from this schooling will only be known in many years later.
3. many insurance companies recruiting agents. i heard that the requirement criteria is not difficult. i feel that most singaporeans qualify to apply.
Imagine, all jobless sign up as agent whose salary I heard from 1 agent is no or not much base salary. and salary comes from how many insurance you sell. imagine, pay and pay all transport cost and coffee money from your own pocket and work hard for your insurance agent. luckily most people would need to buy insurance regardless of economy.
So, i learnt that unemployment's 3 simple approach:
a. job recruitment exercise. : but how many singaporeans get a job out of the so-called vacancies? who can audit exactly actual factly the real number of vacancies that is said to exist? of these, who can prove how many singaporeans finally get a job ? note the overwhelming presence of foreigner job seekers in the midst.
b. insurance agents. it takes a lot of time even years to succeed in it. more failed than succeeded in it. based on commission as income, it seems like a quick and easy way to lower unemployment rate ON PAPER but the real issue of income to agents is still not solved directly given that it would take quite a bit of time for income to come in. and transport and coffee money spent on potential clients is eating their own pocket.
c. back to school. on paper this lowers the unemployment rate. there is no income.
summary: while unemployment can be reduced easily, at least theoretically and on paper and using insurance and study, INCOME is still an issue.
