Greetings,
I am a Malaysian and currently job seeking in Singapore. I sent in general application to one of the companies in Singapore for job application in somewhere April I guess. They replied me in May said that they are going to have a mass walk-in interview few days later. They recommented me to apply the position through the interview. I replied and asked do they accept Malaysian? They replied 'yes'....
While I collected the application form at the counter, I asked again does this interview opens for Malaysian or not, or only for SIngaporean/PR, they said 'yes', the candidate selection will only depends on the interview performance and background qualification... A lot of people attended the interview and I saw the brochure of recruiment 'accidenrtly' which stated : Singaporean/ PR/ Malaysian are welcome to apply --> which same with what I saw from the online brochure....
Ok.... So, it means that 'nationality' doesn't effect the employment right? NO! You are wrong!!!
During my turn of interview, the interviewer shocked with my application! Can you imagine he only asked me 3 questions??? Whereby the rest of candidates had at least 5 minutes of the interview, with evaluating their answers and the job description!!
Interviewer: Oh, you are not Singaporean?
Me: Nope (ps: can't you read on the form that I stated Malaysian?)
Interviewer: Are you in the process of applying PR?
Me: No, I am still a Malaysian (ps: God damn how can I apply for PR if I don't secure by a job?)
Interviewer: Do you have university degree?
Me: Yes (ps: can't you read on the education section? he was looking at the education section when he asked me!!)
Interviewer: Ok, it takes two weeks to process with the application and bah blah blah blahh.....
That's all, for MY interview!!!! God damn!!! I understood there are certain companies in Singapore don't hire foreigner, but God damn, I went there at 9am and the so called 3 questions interview finished by 11.30am!!
